Where we come from…and where we’re going

Still proudly independently owned to this day, Arena Travel has developed its reputation for delivering high quality special interest holidays over nearly four decades. Through the years the variety and number of tours on offer has grown, but the aim has always remained the same – to provide a truly personal service catering for both group and individual needs, leaving people free to enjoy their holiday to the full.

Arena can in fact lay claim to being something of a trailblazer in the travel sector and has been responsible for some impressive ‘firsts’: first company to charter the supersonic passenger airliner Concorde; the first to organise day trips across the Channel to Calais back in the 1970s; and the first to offer tours to modern China following the lifting of the ‘Bamboo Curtain’.

But all this was a number of years ago and more important is the future. As of autumn 2009 Arena has been under new ownership and recently moved to new bespoke offices in Martlesham, Suffolk. The staff remain the same, and their professionalism and commitment to our customers remains the same, but the enthusiasm and desire to deliver the best possible service is stronger than ever.

This website is also new and if you keep checking back, you’ll notice more and more tours being added, offering new experiences in new settings – although never at the expense of quality. So while the customary crop of Elvis, Queen, antiques and quilting tours will always be very much in evidence, you might find something else that catches your eye – like a bridge holiday, or a literary or food tour.

Being an independent tour operator offering high levels of personal service means we can’t always compete on price with the big boys and their ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach.
