Take a trip to Brussels, European capital of Art Nouveau, and immerse yourself in the exquisite art and architecture of some of its most famous names. With its stylised, flowing curvilinear forms, emphasis on decoration and philosophy that art should feature in all aspects of life, this late 19th/early 20th century movement has left a legacy in the city that is still very much in evidence.

With talented architects such as Victor Horta, Paul Hankar, Paul Cauchie and Henri van der Velde all at work in Brussels prior to the First World War, its streets are home to a host of Art Nouveau façades: houses, palaces, concert halls, department stores and museums. There’s also the chance to marvel at the space and light of some fine Art Nouveau interiors and to see how these men carried their design principles through to items of furniture, everyday objects and interior décor.

With some fascinating guided and private visits on the agenda, all in the company of expert Eric Knowles, and a five-star hotel to relax in each evening, this is a tour that is big on both style and comfort.
