The Lake Hotel

Nestling on the lakeshore of Lough Lein, Killarney’s lower lake, the Lake Hotel enjoys the most magnificent setting with a unique backdrop of the mountains, islands and the 12th Century McCarthy Mor castle ruins.
The Lake Hotel is a 4 star, family owned hotel and has been welcoming guests since 1820, so a long tradition of warm Irish hospitality awaits all visitors. The hotel hosted Queen Victoria on her visit to Ireland in 1861. As you stroll out of the lounge doors of the hotel, the Lakes of Killarney and the Killarney National Park are on display in front of you. The town of Killarney is set on the Ring of Kerry, a world famous touring route celebrated for its beauty.

The Lake hotel is situated less than 2km from the town centre, the hotel can organise a shuttle service to the town centre for approx.€2 per person, each way (subject to min 4 people). The town has lots of great shopping, cafés and pubs with a traditional Irish welcome.

All rooms are decorated to a high standard and are equipped with hairdryer, trouser press and tea/coffee making facilities. Guests may opt for the opportunity to upgrade to the lake view rooms given the magnificent landscape whilst the woodland rooms offer low key beauty to the front of the hotel where the wild deer roam free.
The Castle Suite is a beautiful room for hosting bridge tournaments as the room is flooded with natural light and the views of the lake are truly breathtaking.
The hotel has a fitness centre and gym, located on the ground floor, looking out across the lawn past the Canadian outdoor hot tub to the lakes and mountains. The treatment rooms provide yet another opportunity to relax and unwind whilst staying at the Lake Hotel. A range of relaxing, revitalising and therapeutic face and body treatments are available.

Non-Bridge Players
For Non-Bridge playing partners there is a wide range of activities; horse riding, boat trips across the lakes from the hotel’s private pier or a jaunting car tour of the historical sites. To play golf on one of the parkland courses in Killarney is to become part of something spectacular, the lush greenery of Killeen, Killarney – home to the Irish Open 2011.

Travel to Ireland
There are so many low cost airlines offering flights to Ireland, and a range of ferry services for those who wish to take their own car, that we have decided not to include travel to and from Ireland in this holiday. This leaves you free to make your own choices and travel arrangements.

Kerry Airport is closest to the hotel and is served by Ryanair flights from Stansted and Luton. The airport is a 20 minute drive from the hotel and taxis are available. You can also fly to Cork which has 8 trains a day to Killarney from where you can take a taxi or bus to the hotel.
