The Northern Lights
Aurora Borealis, or the Northern Lights, is caused by clouds of dust thrown out by the Sun colliding with gases in the Earth’s atmosphere, creating an amazing light show in a fantastic array of colours. The lights swirl across the sky in flickers and arcs of luminous green, often with a hint of pink along the edge or a violet centre, and are one of Nature’s great wonders. Sightings are dependent on atmospheric conditions, so cannot be guaranteed, but are most frequent in late autumn and in winter/early spring, and are in the region of this cruise. So keep your fingers crossed!
