The Sisters outdoor Quilt Show is one of those ‘must see’ events for anyone who makes quilts or dreams of doing so. And it’s also a chance to experience the true ‘sisterhood ‘of quilting, with classes, a grand picnic, and a fantastic outdoor display of over 1200 quilts which festoon the buildings of the town in a dazzling pageant of colour.
Held annually, in 2012 the Show will be in its 37th successful year, and promises its trademark mix of pre-show workshops, meetings and events, culminating in the final day when the town is festooned with quilts. Karin Hellaby will be your guide to the experience, and having taught at Sisters herself, she certainly knows the ropes.
But it’s not just quilting on the cards, since you’ll also have the opportunity to sample some fine scenery along Oregon’s spectacular Pacific coast, stopping off at scenic spots along the way, and to explore the dynamic city of Seattle. All in all, a perfect opportunity to experience the largest outdoor quilt show in the world and to get to know America’s fascinating North-West.
