Itinerary
Day 1 Flight to Zurich – Transfer to Steckborn – Welcome Reception and Dinner
Morning flight from London to Zurich.
Short transfer to the charming lakeside village of Steckborn – home of Bernina International. Check into the hotel followed by a chance to chat and make new friends at a welcome dinner.
Day 2 Sightseeing around Lake Constance – Evening at Leisure
A day spent sightseeing by coach around beautiful Lake Constance, with its handsome old towns and delightful shoreline. Enjoy and explore some of the Lake’s most scenic spots. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon, followed by an evening at leisure.
Day 3 Bernina Factory Tour – Machine Demonstration
After breakfast, take the short stroll through the pretty rose garden to the Bernina Creative Centre, where you will be welcomed with coffee and croissants.
Then enjoy a fascinating tour of the factory to see sewing machine making in action. After a break for lunch, it’s time for Bernina’s experts to reveal their considerable skills with a product demonstration focussing on Bernina machines, overlock, software and other accessories. There’s also an opportunity to try out these amazing machines for yourself.
The evening is yours, to do as you please.
Days 4 & 5 Two Full Day Workshops at the Bernina Creative Centre
Following breakfast at the hotel, two full days of workshops at the Bernina Creative Centre, led by Bernina experts. Designed and built with inspiration in mind, the Creative Centre has three airy training rooms, all equipped with bespoke sewing tables. Cutting-out tables and a multi-media wall with a projector round off the excellent facilities. Refreshments and a light lunch is included on these two days.
Day 6 Transfer to Colmar, Alsace
Breakfast, before boarding the coach to Colmar and checking in at your new hotel.
Days 7,8 & 9 The Festival of Quilts
Three full days at the Festival of Quilts, which spreads across four pretty neighbouring villages. The Festival sites are open from 9am to 7pm, and you will have the chance to explore them all – with the added comfort of dedicated coach travel between the venues. As well as the many exhibitions and displays, there’s also the shopping village to discover, where around 150 exhibitors from around the world offer their latest fabrics and wares. Return to Colmar by coach each evening, with free time for dinner and to explore the town.
Day 9 The Black Forest – Sightseeing Tour of Freiburg (Optional Excursion)
For those who want to, instead of visiting the Festival again on this day, there’s a chance to venture across the border into Germany and spend a day amid the stunning scenery of the famous Black Forest. Stop first at lovely Lake Titisee, then venture on to the historic and cultured city of Freiburg, for a guided sightseeing tour.
Return to Colmar with free time for dinner.
Day 10 Flight back to London
Check out of the hotel after breakfast and transfer to Zurich Airport for the flight back to London.
