While Operation Overlord was in its final planning stages in the early months of 1944, the Allies were landing in Italy and advancing towards Rome in what was to be another pivotal turning point in bringing an end to the Second World War in Europe.

During this 5 day tour we will honour those who fought and died in the historic struggle for southern Italy, considered by some to be as desperate as the Battle of Passchendaele. Soldiers fought in despicable conditions, on exposed hilltop slopes, coming under heavy artillery fire, knee deep in mud and snow. Names from the past battles for Monte Cassino, Anzio, and the Winter Line, echo with pride and bravery.

Unfortunately, the human cost was high as can be clearly seen on visits to the beautifully maintained World War II cemeteries where we will pay our respects and lay old ghosts to rest.

These five day tours to Monte Cassino and Anzio are also available for veterans and their family members/carers to travel to Italy. This is possible thanks to monies raised at a recent charity fundraising rugby match and gala dinner sponsored by Wates Construction Ltd and A E Arma-Elecktropanc. Funding will be available for a veteran plus two carers/ family members (3 travellers max in total). Each participant will be given a travel allowance of up to £50.00 per person towards the cost of travel to their departure point.

To register your interest and for more information please call 01473 660800. You can also download an eligibility form here which you can complete and return to us at the stated address.
