Cala Ratjada is a well-established resort and port on the beautiful north east coast of Majorca that up until a couple of years ago was virtually undiscovered by the British tourists. As a result, unlike some resorts on the island it is completely unspoilt by fast food outlets and British bars, and you can enjoy a delightful coastal promenade and attractive marina offering good quality restaurants, tapas bars and pizzerias. It also has a popular weekly market that is popular with locals and tourists alike.

Once a quiet fishing port, Cala Ratjada is now an established resort on the north east of the island, and the original harbour still exists but is more likely to be home to expensive cruisers than fishing boats of the times gone by. The port is still the hub of life in Cala Ratjada and you can enjoy wonderful sea food and tapas in the many restaurants surrounding it.

The area is really beautiful with a dramatic coastline and many sandy bays and blue flag beaches, and there are many wonderful coastal walks. It is one of the few places on the island where the pine forests still overlook the beach. We are able to arrange some organised, guided walks if we have enough interest on the holiday. This region is popular in the autumn with the older generation who are able to take advantage of late summer sunshine holiday, and golfers who are also attracted to the championship courses around Cala Ratjada.

Late summer is a pleasant time to visit the north east coast of Majorca, when you can generally expect to find pleasant temperatures between 20C - 25C, and seas that have long been warmed by the summer sun.

Golfers will appreciate this region as there are no less than 4 championship standard golf courses within 5 - 15 minutes’ drive from your hotel, and a special golf package is available to pre-book.

Enjoy an optional guided tour to Palma with its majestic cathedral, castle and port offers a real taste of Spanish culture and plenty of shopping.

We will also have optional excursions available to one of the most spectacular areas of Majorca where we visit Formentor and Pollensa, and enjoy spectacular mountain views and a boat trip in the bay of Pollensa. Don’t miss the trip to Inca Market - the most largest and diverse market on the island. Have fun haggling and bartering and get all your souvenir shopping done and dusted in one morning!

The Bella Playa Hotel & Spa (rated well on TripAdvisor) is an exceptionally good 4 star hotel which has a charming ambience, relaxing lounges, spacious terraces and outside pool area, a lovely large, indoor pool and spa area. Our previous guests highly commend this hotel for its excellent service and choice and quality of breakfast and evening meal. The hotel also offers a range of activities including mini golf, archery, table tennis, riffle shooting, badminton, and billiards. The hotel has a tennis school and 4 clay tennis courts *which can be reserved (*charge applies).

All our rooms have recently been refurbished and of a very good quality- and spotless! The hotel is privately owned and the director and manager are always at hand, and this is reflected in the excellent service throughout.

And most importantly we have excellent conference facilities for our bridge sessions and seminars!

During your duplicate bridge holidays nothing is obligatory, you can play in as many or as few bridge sessions as you wish. Our bridge programmes will vary according to the length of your break and in addition to playing bridge, we will always endeavour to provide a minimum of two bridge seminars for breaks of 7 days or more.

All First for Bridge holidays include bridge tuition and seminars with a varied and interesting duplicate bridge programme. Duplimated boards will be used every evening to ensure fairness and consistency. Bridge hand records will be provided.

Your duplicate bridge will usually be available twice daily, at 2.30pm and 7.45pm. The afternoon sessions usually finish between 4.45pm and 5pm, the evenings between 10.45pm - 11.15pm. The afternoons are normally given over to open pairs/teams. We endeavour to vary the evening sessions, with a balance between teams and pairs, with at least one Swiss style event during a two-week bridge break.

During all evening sessions, we utilise a duplimate machine, which means we are able to produce hand record sheets at the end of the session and when we have two or more sections, both can play the same hands. On our UK duplicate bridge breaks, provided numbers allow, we usually will lay on an "Early Bird" afternoon session on the day of arrival.

We don’t forget you are on holiday, our bridge programmes allow time for relaxation plus giving you plenty of opportunity to explore the surrounding area and relax.
