The Savoy Beach Hotel has an excellent rating on TripAdvisor (4.5/5), and has received a 2016 Certificate of Excellence.

The luxurious Savoy Beach Hotel is a small, classy, stylish hotel set in 40,000 square metres of Italian gardens surrounding an inspiring central pool made of Italian mosaic and shaped like a large amphitheatre. A ten minute walk will take you to the hotels own beautiful private beach with complimentary sunbeds and parasols for hotel guests, swimming pool & terraces, and a very good beach restaurant where you can enjoy some tasty light lunches.

The Savoy Beach Hotel is simply unique! Built in a classic contemporary style to resemble a modern temple linked to the history of the place where it is located. The frontage is homeage to Doric architecture of the temples of Cere and Neptune, just a few metres away, and the beautiful central fountain framed by the waterfall in the background, redirects the thought to the froth of the waves just beyond the pine woods in front of the hotel. Step inside the hotel and you cannot fail to be totally impressed by the Murano glass chandelier, classic inlaid furniture, imposing Doric style columns, grand piano, marble, and contemporary paintings in the spacious reception. The descending staircase leads into the beautiful Italian gardens where you can expect to see a lavish wedding taking place at some point during your holiday!

This small luxurious hotel, has just 42 beautifully furnished, spacious rooms, and offers excellent conference facilities for our bridge sessions.

It is the place to simply relax and enjoy bridge in a luxurious hotel with stunning gardens and terraces in a truly spectacular setting. Not to forget the uncrowded, long, sandy beach is a haven for beach lovers.

Paestum, in the Campania region of Southern Italy, is an unspoilt gem. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is a “must see” if you have an interest in classical archaeology. The beautiful Greek ruins, situated just 1 kilometre from our hotel, with its three Doric Temples, are among the best preserved anywhere in the ancient Greek World, and are surrounded by an old Roman town with its forum, amphitheatre and paved roads.

Paestum is quiet, off the beaten track and amongst beautiful countryside, wild flowers and fields where buffalo are kept to produce the local mozzarella cheese. Beach lovers will enjoy long, uncrowded, fine sandy beaches flanked by pine trees, and shelving gently into the Mediterranean. It is a great alternative to the crowded Amalfi Coast and Bay of Naples with their tiny bays and rocky coastline.

It is the ideal place to explore as the region has so much to offer. We have INCLUDED the following tours within the holiday package:

  • An excursion to Pompeii including entrance and guided tour
  • A half day guided tour of the Temples of Paestum
  • A half day trip to the attractive harbour side town of Agropoli

Paestum has some wonderful authentic restaurants and a small selection of shops, but they are spread over a wide area between the historic temples, the Museum and the beach area, so they are not easily reached by foot, and there is no local transport. The closest main area for a choice of shops and restaurants is a 30 minute walk from the hotel. However it is a great base from which to explore this wonderful region of Italy with so much to see! Why not hire a car and get off the beaten track?

We will also offer a full day optional excursion to the famous Amalfi Coast. We drive around the hair pin bends offering amazing coastal views and stop off in Amalfi and Ravello. Not to be missed whilst in Paestum is lunch at the Caseificio Barlotti - where the owner will give a tour of its buffalo farm where he keeps over 400 black buffalos to produce the famous mozzarella cheese. We can also organise a private bus to Capaccio Scalo Market for just a few euros return where you can haggle with the locals and buy local product and souvenirs.

This beautiful, unspoilt area of Italy has not been ruined by mass tourism, so do expect to meet local people and be prepared to find that some service suppliers may not be used to working with the UK market. When in Rome!

During your duplicate bridge holidays nothing is obligatory, you can play in as many or as few bridge sessions as you wish. Our bridge programmes will vary according to the length of your break and in addition to playing bridge, we will always endeavour to provide a minimum of two bridge seminars for breaks of 7 days or more.

All First for Bridge holidays include bridge tuition and seminars with a varied and interesting duplicate bridge programme. Duplimated boards will be used every evening to ensure fairness and consistency. Bridge hand records will be provided.

Your duplicate bridge will usually be available twice daily, at 2.30pm and 7.45pm. The afternoon sessions usually finish between 4.45pm and 5pm, the evenings between 10.45pm - 11.15pm. The afternoons are normally given over to open pairs/teams. We endeavour to vary the evening sessions, with a balance between teams and pairs, with at least one Swiss style event during a two-week bridge break.

During all evening sessions, we utilise a duplimate machine, which means we are able to produce hand record sheets at the end of the session and when we have two or more sections, both can play the same hands. On our UK duplicate bridge breaks, provided numbers allow, we usually will lay on an "Early Bird" afternoon session on the day of arrival.

We don’t forget you are on holiday, our bridge programmes allow time for relaxation plus giving you plenty of opportunity to explore the surrounding area and relax.
