Book our two centre holiday and receive a free excursion of the Famagusta area including lunch - visiting the monastery of St Barnabas, the famous walled city of Famagusta and a look at the so called “Ghost City” of Varosha.

You have the option to stay one week in the Pia Bella Hotel, Kyrenia or one week at the Salamis Bay Conti, in the Famagusta region, OR combine both weeks and enjoy our fantastic FREE day tour when we change hotels. The twin centre offers a diverse mix of town and beach and allows you to get a true feel of this beautiful country.

Northern Cyprus is unquestionably a most beautiful place to visit. Its natural beauties include long coastlines of clean, sandy beaches bordering turquoise blue waters: green mountains covered in pine trees; historical sites dating back thousands of years; picturesque villages full of local colour and cultures; plus churches; castles; monasteries and vibrant cities.

To give you the opportunity to really experience this side of the island we are offering a two centre holiday - each hotel and centre having something very different to offer!

The first week we stay in the principal town, Kyrenia in the delightful Pia Bella Hotel on half board basis. This family run hotel is highly rated for its character, warm ambience and friendly service, and has an enviable position, a short walk from its historic horseshoe harbour where you will find a wide choice of restaurants, bars and shops. During the week we enjoy an INCLUDED FREE EXCURSION to the walled city of Nicosia, the only remaining divided capital left in the world, and where we view the biggest cathedral ever built on Cypriot soil, and ladies can shop until they drop on the famous “Shopping Galore” strip. Keen walkers can take to the mountains around Kyrenia and discover the wild flowers, or visit the Karpaz Peninsula, locally known as the Pan Handle, with its tiny villages, donkeys, herds of goats and natural plantation. Close to Kyrenia you can visit the 7th century St. Hillarion Castle that inspired Walt Disney when he created Snow White, and not to be missed is the beautifully preserved old Bellapais village and Abbey. If you are ready to relax after all the sightseeing, then the 15,000 square metre gardens surrounding the two swimming pools at the Pia Bella Hotel are just the place the place to so soak up some winter sun and enjoy a well-earned glass of local wine, and get to know your fellow bridge players.

The second week we drive across to the other side of Northern Cyprus, and we have INCLUDED a fabulous FREE FULL DAY EXCURSION including lunch. We visit the monastery of St. Barnabas with its tomb and archaeology museum and then continue to the ancient Roma city of Salamis, with its famous Roman baths and theatre, before stopping for lunch by the sea. Then we visit Famagusta, once the most important port city on the island, and simply brimming with history. Lose yourself in the alleyways abundant with colourful bazaars, shops and cafes inside its massive city walls. Then it is time for a peak at the “Ghost town” Varosha, where ghosts would haunt us if we had a chance to go in! This suburb of Famagusta was considered the “Riviera of the Mediterranean” before the diversion of 1974. We arrive at the Salamis Bay Conti Hotel at approximately 17.00 hours in time for dinner and bridge.

The Salamis Bay Conti Hotel offers a completely different experience to the first week stay in Kyrenia, Northern Cyprus.

This larger, functional hotel was renovated in 2014, and offers a huge range of complimentary leisure facilities that include an outdoor pool and an excellent indoor pool, steam room, sauna & Turkish bath, and spa where you can purchase many different treatments. The all-inclusive package is great value and the quality of food is good and varied, and bedrooms are all spacious.

This hotel also enjoys an enviable position because it is set in 65 acres of land directly on a long, sandy beach where you can enjoy some excellent walks down the beach. There is also a regular shuttle service into Famagusta, which is well worth the small charge as Famagusta is certainly worth a few visits to fully explore the city and surrounding area.

During your duplicate bridge holidays nothing is obligatory, you can play in as many or as few bridge sessions as you wish. Our bridge programmes will vary according to the length of your break and in addition to playing bridge, we will always endeavour to provide a minimum of two bridge seminars for breaks of 7 days or more.

All First for Bridge holidays include bridge tuition and seminars with a varied and interesting duplicate bridge programme. Duplimated boards will be used every evening to ensure fairness and consistency. Bridge hand records will be provided.

Your duplicate bridge will usually be available twice daily, at 2.30pm and 7.45pm. The afternoon sessions usually finish between 4.45pm and 5pm, the evenings between 10.45pm - 11.15pm. The afternoons are normally given over to open pairs/teams. We endeavour to vary the evening sessions, with a balance between teams and pairs, with at least one Swiss style event during a two-week bridge break.

During all evening sessions, we utilise a duplimate machine, which means we are able to produce hand record sheets at the end of the session and when we have two or more sections, both can play the same hands. On our UK duplicate bridge breaks, provided numbers allow, we usually will lay on an "Early Bird" afternoon session on the day of arrival.

We don’t forget you are on holiday, our bridge programmes allow time for relaxation plus giving you plenty of opportunity to explore the surrounding area and relax.
