Join us on this special 7 day Stitchtopia crochet holiday amidst the picture-postcard scenery of the Austrian Tyrol. Enjoy crochet workshops led by Sarah Hazell and discover a landscape of green pastures, onion-domed churches and craggy alpine peaks. Along the way explore Innsbruck with its atmospheric Old Town and the charming village of Pertisau, perched on the shores of Lake Achensee. We’ll also cross over the border into Bavaria for a visit to the fairytale castle of Neuschwanstein and the enchanting village of Oberammergau, home of the passion play.
This classic region is also renowned for its unique heritage and fine craftsmanship. Throughout the holiday we’ll explore the importance and history of typical Tyrolean costume and textiles with museum and traditional clothing store visits. We’ll also visit glassblowing and wood carving workshops and discover a more contemporary world of glass with a visit to Swarovski Crystal Worlds.

We are delighted to welcome knitting and crochet designer Sarah Hazell to our Stitchtopia tutor family. Sarah has a passion for beautiful yarn and textiles and is fascinated by colour, pattern and texture. Her stand-alone collections are designed with an emphasis on the creation of sustainable clothes and accessories. Sarah is a regular contributor to Knitting, Making and Let’s Knit magazine and also a published author of several knitting and crochet books.
DAY 1 (D)
Meet your tour manager and Sarah at Gatwick Airport for your morning flight to Innsbruck. On arrival transfer to your hotel in Seefeld, a historic resort town, for a 7 night stay. Get to know your fellow crochet travellers at dinner this evening.
DAY 2 (B,D)
This morning join a local guide for a cultural stroll and introduction to the village. Later visit the pretty alpine village of Leutasch where the houses are decorated using a special method of wall painting. A fresco technique is applied to fresh plaster creating a wonderful result. The curator of the local museum will tell you about the unique cloth and traditional Tyrolean costumes of Leutsach. Join Sarah this afternoon for the first crochet workshop at the hotel.
DAY 3 (B,D)
Full day tour to the capital of the Tyrol, Innsbruck, located in the Inn Valley. Discover the picturesque old town with the famous Golden Roof and the shopping street – the Maria- Theresien-Straße. We’ll also visit a renowned Tyrolean outfitters and enjoy a tour of the Museum of Tyrolean Regional Heritage, home to a collection of typical historical costumes.
DAY 4 (B,D)
We’ll cross the border into Germany for an included visit to Neuschwanstein, a fairy tale Bavarian castle built by King Ludwig and the inspiration for Walt Disney’s Cinderella castle. We’ll also visit Oberammergau, home of the passion play which is performed by residents of the village every 10 years. Oberammergau is also renowned for woodcarving workshops and a visit to see highly skilled artisans at work will be included.
DAY 5 (B,D)
Join Sarah for morning and afternoon crochet workshops at the hotel.
DAY 6 (B,D)
We’ll discover more scenic delights with a visit to emerald green Achensee, the Tyrol’s largest lake. The setting amidst the Karwendel Mountains is quite stunning. Enjoy lake views and perhaps “kaffee and kuchen” at the charming village of Pertisau. At Rattenberg we’ll explore more heritage and traditional crafts at a glassblowing workshop. The day ends on a glittering high with a visit to the contemporary glass treasures at Swarovski Crystal Worlds. This magical mix of chambers and gardens was opened in 1995 to celebrate Swarovski’s hundredth anniversary.
DAY 7 (B,D)
Join Sarah for morning and afternoon crochet workshops at the hotel. This evening enjoy a final dinner and “show and tell” with fellow crochet travellers.

Morning transfer to Innsbruck Airport for the return flight to London.

Seespitz Hotel, Seefeld****
Perfectly located peacefully overlooking an alpine lake and mountains - yet the centre of Seefeld is on your doorstep. This hotel is very highly recommended for its fine dining, spectacular views, attentive staff, spacious and spotlessly clean rooms and lovely outdoor pool and spa facilities.
Breakfast is buffet style with a wide selection of hot and cold dishes. Dinner is a four course choice of menu with salad buffet and cheese board included, and soup, main dish and desert served to table - all of excellent standard.
