If your passion is for knitting and you would relish a relaxing cruise in the company of fellow crafters and accompanied by well-known expert Jane Crowfoot, then we have the perfect combination for you!

Taking you north to the remote and beautiful Faroese archipelago and delightful Scottish Islands, this cruise promises to be the perfect get away from it all. You’ll be amazed by the wealth of breath-taking scenery, bountiful wildlife and dramatic nature. Each time you step ashore discover fascinating traditions and cultures, explore historic cities and learn of the mysteries surrounding ancient sites. Visit traditional knitting isles of Shetland and the Faroes, with visits to Orkney and Isle of Mull too. Enjoy the expertise and company of Jane Crowfoot throughout the cruise who will host 3 workshops whilst on board and accompany you on 2 included ‘woolly’ excursions on Shetland and the Faroes. Plus you’ll have free time on-board to join in 'knit and natter'’ sessions and enjoy the company of your fellow cruisers.

DAY 1:

With a late afternoon sailing you’ll have time to make your way to Newcastle where ample car parking is available. Setting sail at 4pm we will have time to settle in before our welcome get-together and our first dinner aboard with Jane and your fellow craft cruisers.

DAY 2:

We arrive into Dundee in the early hours of the morning where we will have free time ashore before the ship sets sail after lunch. This afternoon Jane will lead her first workshop on board the ship.

DAY 3:

Lerwick, capital of the Shetland Isles, is our port of call today and we have included another exclusive excursion just for our group. Our tour will take us through the spectacular Shetland scenery to discover the fascinating rich heritage of wool and knitting of these islands. We’ll visit Hoswick Visitor Centre to view the textile machinery exhibits, visit local designer Niela Kalra’s shop; Nielanell. Have a light lunch of soup and a sandwich before taking in the Shetland Textile Museum and the Shetland Museum & Archives in Lerwick with some free time to shop.

DAY 4:

This morning is your second workshop with Jane. We arrive into Klaksvilk at lunchtime. The first settlement at Klaksvík dates back to Viking times, but it was not until the 20th century that the district merged to form a large, modern Faroese town that became a cultural and commercial centre for the Northern Isles and the Faroe Islands as a whole.

Klaksvík is located between two inlets lying back to back. It has an important harbour with fishing industry and a modern fishing fleet. Originally, four farms were located where Klaksvík is now. In time, they grew into four villages: Vágur, Myrkjanoyri, Gerðar and Uppsalir; which finally merged to form the town of Klaksvík in 1938. What triggered the development of the town was the establishment of a centralized store for all the northern islands on the location.

DAY 5:

Overnight we have arrived into the capital of the Faroe Isles; Torshavn, and have arranged an exclusive included excursion for our group. With our driver-guide we will explore highlights of the beautiful Faroese scenery with an insight into local knitting traditions and visit a well-known wool shop. Enjoy a traditional lunch in a local home before returning to the capital Tórshavn with time to visit local handicraft shops.

DAY 6:

With and early arrival into Kirkwall, capital of the Orkney Isles, a hive of creative activity and its many craft workshops are perfect to explore. There’s the chance to join optional excursions to discover these beautiful islands with a 6,000 year history with Neolithic standing stones and the magnificent archaeological site of Skara Brae.

DAY 7:

This morning we arrive into Tobermory – Isle of Mull. Established in the late 18th Century as a fishing port, Tobermory is one of the prettiest ports in Scotland. The picture postcard village has a large natural harbour where colourful boats bob on the waves watched over by a rainbow of brightly painted buildings backed by woodland-fringed hills. This afternoon will be your last workshop with Jane.

DAY 8:

Arrival into Liverpool in the morning and time to depart after a final hearty breakfast.
