Accounts Assistant

The Arena Travel Group has been providing high-quality special-interest tours and holidays for more than 40 years. Still proudly independently owned to this day, the Group has developed its reputation for delivering a wide range of escorted quality holidays and river cruises including tours in the special interest hobby areas.

We are looking for a conscientious Accounts Assistant, to provide support to the wider finance team in all areas of accounts administration including (but not limited to) processing customer payments, supplier payments and account reconciliations.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Carrying out the administration of supplier invoices, working closely with the operations team
  • Making bank payments
  • Completing bank reconciliations
  • Fulfilling the administration of customer payments working in conjunction with our sales, reservations and customer service teams
  • Ensuring nominal ledger journal completion and entry are updated
  • Taking responsibility for account reconciliations
  • Identifying and flagging opportunities for cost saving

Skills and experience required:

  • Previous experience of working in a similar role, within an accounts or finance environment
  • Strong IT proficiency, with good knowledge of MS Office, Sage and the ability to learn in-house systems quickly
  • Confident numeracy skills, with consistent accuracy
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Takes an organised approach to work
  • Good communication and interaction skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Able to remain calm and attentive when working with deadlines

Hours of work:

Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 5.30pm (part time hours may be considered).
