Menorca – A World Record!

Our claim to the world record for the longest running licensed overseas bridge event has never been refuted! Autumn 2016 will be 45 consecutive years at the Hotel S’Algar at that time of year but equally as impressive, we have also been visiting in May for 17 years. Incredibly, Andrew Kambites has been the bridge director on all the May holidays and returns this year. Bob & Jacky have not been directing/hosting quite as long but are catching up!

This very special location has always remained a firm favourite with First for Bridge guests with many coming back year after year to enjoy the tranquility and wonderful ocean front pool and terraces – including the good company of Andrew, Bob & Jacky!

When the hotel changed ownership and went all-inclusive we held our breath and hoped it would still maintain the same standards, and despite some teething problems the first year we are pleased to say that our bridge staff and guests all agreed it was even better in 2015.

What’s more – nowadays the ALL INCLUSIVE PACKAGE offers terrific value for money, and we have even managed to negotiate NO SINGLE SUPPLEMENTS exclusively for First for Bridge guests.

Remember that you can extend your stay at S’Algar by adding a week in its sister hotel La Quinta. Here you can enjoy 5 star service and facilities in one of the top hotels on Menorca AND as it is situated on the other side of the island to S’Algar it gives you a great opportunity to explore all over this beautiful, unspoilt island.

We do hope you will be able to join Andrew in May or Bob & Jacky in October and help us continue extending this world record!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We have to release any unsold rooms at Hotel S’Algar 8 weeks prior to the holiday. PLEASE TRY TO BOOK BEFORE 18 MARCH FOR THE MAY HOLIDAY DEPARTURE AS WE CANNOT GUARANTEE AVAILABILITY AND PRICES AFTER THIS DATE.

This holiday sold out in both May and October 2015.

“Menorca has a footpath that goes round the island connecting the unspoiled sandy beaches and idyllic coves, called the Cami de Cavalls (Horse Path). The walking is relatively easy especially around S’ Algar. A couple of ladies have come for the past two years, staying in La Quinta in 2014 and S’Algar in 2015. They have completed two thirds of this footpath, using taxis and public transport where necessary. Hopefully they will be able to complete it this year. We also have regulars who come to S’Algar every year and are very willing to welcome newcomers on their walks. It will be my 17th visit to this beautiful island this May. Is it any wonder I keep coming back?” – Andrew Kambites

““Having visited S’Algar many times over the years with First for Bridge, Jacky and I wondered if standards may slip when the hotel announced it was going to change to all-inclusive.

Far from it – when we visited in 2015 we were pleased to find that the service was as efficient and friendly as ever and, if anything, the food had actually improved and exceeded our expectations. We look forward to returning yet again this autumn.”” – Bob & Jacky Baker
