Easter Bridge in Gdansk

Hardly surprising, given its complex history, Gdansk is full of museums - again all within a short walking distance from our hotel. There is a fine World War 2 museum, taking you through the full European history from when the first shot was fired here in Gdansk that triggered the start of the war. You can visit the European Solidarity Centre, which burst into life at the time of the shipyard strikes in 1980, led by Lech Walesa, or enjoy the Maritime museum, where the chequered history of this sea faring city unfolds.

The old town is full of beautiful churches, clock towers and shops selling the local gem, amber. A ten minute walk takes you to St Marys Church, the largest brick building in Europe, or you can slip inside St Brigit’s Church, just behind our hotel and admire the incredible alter made of pure amber, and reflect that it was here that Solidarity gathered much of its moral strength.

The Madison Mall opposite our hotel boasts over 100 shops and restaurant under one roof. The riverside is vibrant and full of cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops and attractions. You can walk over the bridges on to the two islands across the River Motlawa that leads to the Baltic and form part of this fine city.

5 nights half board + 2 nights bed & breakfast

We have opted to include five evening meals during your stay to give you the opportunity to try out some of the excellent restaurants during two days of your holiday. There are numerous ones in the immediate vicinity of our hotel and they stay open all day long.

Included to enhance your holiday:

  • A four hour guided walking tour of Gdansk - with plenty of rest stops and a knowledgeable guide
  • A guided coach tour to the elite Polish Riviera, Sopot and a visit to Gdansk Oliwa Cathedral where you will experience an organ concert
  • A guided coach tour to Malbork Castle. This UNESCO listed fort is not only the world’s biggest brick castle, but also a delightful mix of medieval architecture and communism
