Join us and play Bridge on La Palma. One of the lesser-known Canary Islands, La Palma is also one of the most beautiful. The island’s rugged landscape is dotted with volcanoes like Teneguia and Cumbre Vieja, and its spectacular national parks feature thick pine forests, tumbling waterfalls, freshwater springs and streams. Not to be missed are the ‘Fuencaliente Salt Pans’, where white salt and black soil meet the mellowed ochre tones of the ocean, and Puerto Naos with its exotic black sand beach. We’ll be staying in the beachfront Hotel Taburiente Playa, which is just a short stroll from the centre of the resort of Los Cancajos whose black sand beach is surrounded by cafes and bars. From our hotel it’s possible to walk, or take a local bus, to the island’s capital Santa Cruz where the narrow, cobbled streets, and houses with wooden balconies abundant with flowers, are a step back in time to a bygone era.
