Combine a once in a lifetime journey to Canada with your passion for stitching on a unique holiday that truly offers the best of both worlds. Climb aboard the Rocky Mountaineer to journey across the Rockies, past glaciers and snow-capped peaks to lush greenery and fast-flowing rivers. Then, indulge in two full days of workshops at Anne Dale’s ‘My Sewing Room’ and enjoy a visit to Calgary’s wonderful Festival of Quilts.

Day 1:
Meet Janet Clare and your Tour Manager at London Heathrow for your flight to Vancouver.

Upon arrival, transfer via coach to the Delta Hotels by Marriott Vancouver Downtown Suites where you will check in for 2 nights. Enjoy the rest of the day and evening at leisure.
Day 2:
This morning, a sightseeing tour of Vancouver has been arranged with a local guide. Highlights include Stanley Park, which is densely forested with over half a million trees, Lions Gate Bridge, a National Historic Site of Canada, and Chinatown. The afternoon is at leisure for you to explore further. You may wish to visit the artisan shops and market on Granville Island, where you can purchase handcrafted products and unique souvenirs.
Day 3:
A 5-star welcome awaits you as you board the Rocky Mountaineer for the amazing 2-day adventure following a centuries-old route. On today’s journey you will travel from the coastal city of Vancouver to Kamloops, in the heart of British Columbia’s interior. You’ll pass the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River. In the evening we arrive in Kamloops where you are free to explore the city or relax at the hotel.
Day 4:
Early this morning, you’ll be transferred by coach to the train where you will continue your journey east on the Rocky Mountaineer to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. You’ll head through Craigellachie, famous for being the site of the Canadian Pacific Railway’s completion, and then take in the views as you climb over Rogers Pass and the glaciers and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies.

In the evening you’ll arrive at Lake Louise and then continue to your end destination, the charming mountain resort of Banff.
Day 5:
This morning, enjoy some time at leisure to relax and explore Banff, which has great opportunities for shopping and a wonderful choice of cafes and restaurants.

After lunch we will drive to Canmore where we will visit the delightful Sugar Pine Co. quilt store before continuing to Calgary, where we will check in to our hotel for our 5-night stay.
Day 6:
Anne Dale invites you to ‘My Sewing Room’ where you will enjoy a full day of stitching in the excellent workshop facility. Anne is an international teacher and will have a Canadian-inspired project for you to stitch under her guidance.
Day 7&8:
Immerse yourself in Western Canada’s largest outdoor quilt show at Calgary’s Festival of Quilts. Wander over to the merchant’s mall offering the latest and the greatest to the quilting community. Watch the ‘how-to’ demonstrations and get inspiration for your creativity and admire the hundreds of quilts on display in and around the historical buildings at Calgary’s authentic heritage park.
Day 9:
Today you'll enjoy a second full-day workshop at 'My Sewing Room' with Janet Clare, who will guide you through her project, specially designed for this holiday.
Day 10:
Time to relax and perhaps finish your stitching project before transferring to the airport for your overnight flight to the UK.
Day 11:
Lunchtime arrival into London Heathrow.

Janet Clare

Janet Clare is an artist, textile designer, teacher, author, quilter and all-round creative thinker. She is inspired by words, sayings and lovely phrases that she comes across and also by children and the joy they find in the mundane.

Janet has created a range of quilt and stitchery patterns, written five books and designed eight fabric collections in collaboration with Moda. Her products retail in quilt shops across the UK and in her online ETSY store, as well as featuring on Create and Craft TV, where Janet presents a live show once a month. Her work features frequently in patchwork and quilting publications and as an experienced speaker and teacher, she regularly hosts talks and workshops at quilt shops, guilds and in her own studio focusing on the design process and the creative techniques she uses.
