See the cultural and craft highlights of vibrant Vietnam

Our textile tours of Vietnam showcase the rich colours and cultural highlights of a truly fascinating country. We’ll visit silk farms, weaving villages and lantern workshops and stroll through markets where traditional dress is still very much a part of everyday life.  Along the way we’ll meet with skilled craftspeople and also get a chance to try our hand under their guidance. We’ll also spend a memorable afternoon in Mai Chau visiting the White Thai minorities who still work on their traditional silk weaving looms.

Explore Ha Noi whose tree-lined streets are resplendent with French colonial architecture, browse the hand-woven items on sale from local weavers at Mai Chau's Weaving School, meet Red Dao ladies and observe their traditional stitching techniques in Sapa and cruise to the outer reaches of Ha Long Bay with its numerous caves and channels. Not to be missed is a visit to the village of Van Phuc whose history of silk weaving stretches back a thousand years. Here you can explore the many silk shops and see the spinning, gluing, weaving and finishing of the silk wares.

With a rich textile history, there really is so much to see in vibrant Vietnam as well as plenty of opportunity to get hands on and learn traditional techniques from local crafters.
