We journey from London to Paris by Eurostar, followed by our connection to join the high-speed train to Basel and onward train to Interlaken, Switzerland. We check in at our hotel for a relaxing evening.
Today we travel by train along a section of the GoldenPass Line to Lucerne, where colourful pitched roof buildings perch on the edge of a blue lake, framed by a magnificent mountain range. After some free time, we take the train to nearby Arth Goldau and then join the cogwheel railway up Mount Rigi for breathtaking panoramic views across the Alps and of Lake Lucerne below. We return to Interlaken by train and enjoy a relaxing evening at the hotel.

Spend the day at leisure exploring Interlaken. The charming resort of Interlaken is located between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz and is surrounded by the beautiful peaks of the Jungfrau, the Eiger and the Mönch mountains. When the skies are clear, the view of the valley is stunning, offering a wonderful view of the stunning Bernese Oberland. Our hotel is centrally located, so why not take a leisurely stroll through the charming historic streets or you can explore the many mountain railways and cable cars in the surrounding area.

This morning we travel by rail to Chur and join the Glacier Express for a memorable journey along the broad valley before we climb through pasture and woodland. We enjoy a delicious three course lunch on board as the train then spirals its way towards the Oberalp Pass, the highest point of the route at 2033 metres, before descending to the Rhône valley and stopping at Brig. We continue by rail, returning to Interlaken in the early evening.

The capital of Switzerland, Bern, is our destination this morning. This charming city is perfectly preserved, with many fountains, facades, narrow streets and ancient towers. Traffic is kept out of the old town, so it’s a delight to explore with the added beauty of the Aare River and surrounding mountains. In the afternoon you can enjoy dramatic scenery with a cruise on Lake Thun, whose deep blue waters are framed by quaint villages and historic castles, right up to the peaks of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
