Embroidery Wellbeing Weekend
In this fast paced and overwhelming world, this weekend is designed to help you slow down, breathe and relax. Suitable for all levels of ability, workshops will focus on immersing yourself in the project rather than finished result, supporting positive mental health and wellbeing.

Jessica Aldred
Jessica is a designer and embroiderer from West Yorkshire. She is a graduate of the Royal School of Needlework and has over 15 years experience teaching embroidery and carrying out commissions. She has worked in costume at the Royal Opera House, taught needlework to prison inmates for Fine Cell Work, co-authored a book called Adventures in Needlework and was a member of the team who embroidered the wedding dress and veil for HRH The Duchess of Cambridge.
Jessica has always loved history, antiques and vintage fashion, and these elements often influence her work. Her business, House of Heyday, is where all of Jessica's skills, experiences and passions come together. As well as teaching embroidery and doing commissions she is also a vintage hair stylist and make-up artist and gives talks and presentations about vintage fashions. Alongside all of that she works for an arts organisation for adults with learning disabilities.
Jessica loves sharing her knowledge and prides herself on her classes being friendly and inclusive.

Today's workshop will focus on Playful Stitch – use a variety of fabrics and threads to learn a series of stitches and let them guide you to create your own organic stitch sampler.

Today's workshop will focus on Sketching with Stitch – work from observation to translate what you see into stitch. For far too long embroidery hasn’t been seen as art, but just as with pencil and paper you can create lines and markings with needle and thread to create your own observational artwork.

Tour Notes: Although there are no mobility requirements for this tour, please note that you will need to be able to make your own way between our workshop room, your bedroom and the restaurant, which could involve walks of up to 5 minutes.
