The four-star Db San Antonio and Spa is an excellent all-inclusive hotel in the heart of Qawara. Previous bridge guests have been very impressed with the high standards of service and dining in this hotel and have appreciated the all-inclusive value. The location is ideal, with shops and tourist facilities nearby. There’s a fabulous 3.5-metre seafront promenade passing Bugibba and St Pauls Bay where you can enjoy an afternoon stroll on a very pleasant average 18C December day.

Learn about Malta's history on a half-day tour dedicated to the Second World War in Malta and it's British history. The tour will discuss why the British came to Malta, what happened and why they left.

You'll also get the chance to take a tour to Gozo. During this tour, you will visit The National Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Ta' Pinu, Dwejra Bay, Victoria - the capital of Gozo, before finally driving to Mgarr Port via Qala Belvedere where breath-taking scenes can be enjoyed.

The bus terminal is just 100 metres from the hotel and offers direct transportation all over Malta, making it exceptionally easy to explore this fascinating island that is steeped in history, colourful towns and villages and abundant with churches and local festivals. Frequent buses will take you into the historic capital Valetta, where you can meander through this incredible walled city, or take a boat trip around the deep harbour and experience the views from the Upper Barrakka Gardens. A visit to Mdina, the “Silent City” with its alleyways and infamous Mdina Gate is not to be missed.
Each day there will be opportunities to take part in the various bridge programme with Masterpoints and prizes awarded.

What to expect from this Bridge holiday:
Our Bridge programmes will vary according to the length of your break, and, in addition to playing Bridge, we try to include interesting Bridge seminars, hosted by your Bridge Director.
Your duplicate Bridge will be available every evening between 7.45pm and 11.15pm and we endeavour to vary these evening sessions, balancing between teams and pairs, with at least one Swiss style event during a two-week Bridge break.
Bridge will also be offered some afternoons between 2.30pm and 4.45pm. These sessions are normally given over to open pairs/teams.
During your Bridge holiday nothing is obligatory, and you can play in as many, or as few, Bridge sessions as you wish. We don’t forget you are on holiday and our Bridge programmes also allow time to relax and the opportunity for you to explore the surrounding area.

Chris and Linda Benneworth

Linda and Chris have been married since 1971, having met while they were teaching at the same high school.

Following successful careers in education they retired in the late nineties, when they started directing together, working at first in local and more recently in overseas congresses. They ran the North Eastern Bridge Association Congress for a number of years in Otterburn, Consett and Gateshead, an event with a deserved reputation for friendliness. Since 2019, they have worked as hosts and director at EBU overseas congresses in Athens, Sicily and Rome. They even play together occasionally to ensure there are full tables. Chris is an EBU national director who also teaches others the art of directing and Linda is a qualified County director.

They both believe that bridge is a great game which is meant to be enjoyed; a holiday is the perfect way of doing that.
