Arriving around midday sees us in Belgian’s coastal city of Ostend. You can spend your time relaxing on one of the many sandy beaches. Sail to Antwerp early evening.
We arrive in the architecturally stunning city of Antwerp. Amble around the ancient city centre and pay a visit to its most staggering attraction, the UNESCO World Heritage Notre-Dame Cathedral that dominates the skyline. Sail to Amsterdam early afternoon.
Sailing into the ‘Venice of the North’, you’ll easily see why Amsterdam is considered to be one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in Europe. A network of picturesque canals, the city’s waterways are linked by one delightful bridge after another and lined by the attractive, tall and narrow town houses that have become symbolic of the Netherlands’ capital.
We spend today cruising the length of the Kiel Canal, known as Europe’s Panama. This freshwater canal flows for 98 kilometres through the German state of Schleswig-Holstein and is one of the world’s most travelled manmade shipping lanes. By sailing through its waters, it’ll save us around 250 nautical miles (460km), as opposed to travelling around the Jutland Peninsula.
Located at the estuary of the Warnow river, Warnemunde is a highly popular German seaside resort on the Baltic Sea. Sail to Ronne late afternoon.
To the south-west of the Baltic Sea, the small Danish island of Bornholm is a magnificent and light-filled setting for the charming town of Ronne, its capital. We depart around midday.
Arrive in Visby in the early morning, the old city lies to the west coast of Gotland, a Sweedish island in the Baltic Sea. Depart for Stockholm early afternoon.
