Sewing with Stretch Fabric
We are excited to be working with Charlotte Newland, winner of the Great British Sewing Bee 2016, to bring you a fantastic weekend of sewing with stretch fabric. You will leave with three garments: a sweatshirt, T-shirt, and pair of knickers, along with a sense of achievement and some great memories!
Your Tour Includes
- 2 nights’ full-board accommodation, starting with dinner on Friday and ending with lunch on Sunday
- 2 days tuition with Charlotte Newland
- Tea/coffee during workshops
- Use of the hotel leisure facilities (subject to availability); gym, heated indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna & steam room
Itinerary

Skill level: Confident sewing machine user, can be a beginner dressmaker. You will need to bring: 1 x Megan Nielsen Jarrah sweatshirt pattern, 1 x Cashmerette Concord T-shirt pattern, 1 x Megan Nielsen Acacia underwear pattern. Patterns come in two size ranges – you must ensure you bring the correct size range for your measurements. Fabric for each garment as indicated on the patterns, fold over elastic for knickers, thread to match knicker elastic and sweatshirt and T-shirt fabric, general sewing kit (scissors, pins, unpicker etc.)
Check in to your room from 3pm. Meet with your expert, retreat manager and fellow guests over dinner this evening.

During the weekend we will sew three garments from stretch fabric:
A sweatshirt - this introduces the basic principles of stretch sewing while using a stable knit fabric – perfect for beginners.
A T-shirt – working with a higher stretch percentage fabric – building on skills learned from the sweatshirt class
A pair of knickers – this pattern teaches how to apply elastic to make bound edges for an amazingly comfy pair of knickers
