Day 1: London – Wuppertal

We journey aboard Eurostar from London to Brussels and continue by rail to Wuppertal where we check in to our overnight hotel.

Day 2: Wuppertal – Dresden

After breakfast we take the train to Dresden, a beautiful city shaped by the soaring towers and dominant domes of its palaces, churches and stately homes.

Day 3: Dresden

After breakfast we have a guided walking tour of Dresden, to take in some of the main sights, fascinating buildings and impressive museums such as the Frauenkirche, the Blue Wonder, the picturesque banks of the Elbe and the Wilhelmimian. Later on we step aboard a paddle steamer for a relaxing cruise along the river. Sit back, relax, take in the views from the river and enjoy coffee and cake as we sail along.

Day 4: Löβnitz Valley Steam Railway - Moritzburg Castle

This morning we board the train from Dresden to Radebeul and board the Löβnitz Valley Steam Railway to Moritzburg which takes you through fascinating landscapes and picturesque villages, as it weaves through vineyards and dreamy forestland before arriving in Moritzburg. On arrival we visit the fairytale castle of Moritzburg, which was built as a hunting lodge on its own Island.

Day 5: Dresden

Today is free to explore Dresden at your leisure. To make it easy for you to get around and see all the sights make sure you use your city ticket, which allows you to hop on and hop off trams and buses in Dresden. The city has many art museums and classic architecture of its reconstructed old town. The baroque church Frauenkirche is famed for its grand dome, which was rebuilt after it was reduced to ruins in World War II. Neumarkt Square is full of history with gabled houses, Royal Palaces, cathedrals and museum are in abundance and not to be missed. Take a stroll along the promenade of the Elbe River where there are many shops and restaurants.

Day 6: Weiβeritz Valley Steam Railway & Dippoldiswalde

Today, we take the train from Dresden to Freital and join the Weiβeritz Valley Steam Railway, one of the oldest steam trains in Saxony, which weaves through the beautiful scenery of the Eastern Ore Mountains. We arrive in peaceful and tranquil Dippoldiswalde and have free time to explore the historic city centre with it’s market, town hall, castle and the church. This evening we enjoy a farewell dinner in a local restaurant in Dresden, the perfect way to round off a pleasurable holiday.

Day 7: Dresden – London

We set off on the rail journey to Brussels and meet Eurostar for the return to London.
