Rabac, an upmarket resort on the eastern side of the Istrian Riviera, is a simply idyllic Croatian resort that began its development from a quiet picturesque fisherman village in the late nineteenth century.

The beachfront 4 star Valamar Sanfior Hotel & Casa is situated on a peninsula surrounded by fragrant pine forests and beautiful beaches, and from the hotel there are incredible views over the sea and Rabac Bay. A lovely flat coastal walk along the waterfront promenade takes you into the centre of the town. The promenade has an abundance of stalls and souvenir and craft shops as well as a hub of eateries with authentic pizzerias and delicious sea food restaurants, famous for their lobster and shellfish dishes. It is the place to stroll, dine al fresco, and people watch.

Sea worshippers will appreciate the beautiful hotel beach of fine white pebbles that is one of the three blue flag beaches in Rabac. Take a boat trip from the harbour to the island of Cres, where you can see a 120 strong school of wild dolphins around the waters.

The 4 star Valamar Sanfior Hotel & Casa is a little gem. The location and views have to be seen and experienced to be fully appreciated. The hotel has excellent reviews on Trip Advisor where it is rated top out of the 13 hotels in Rabac and has a certificate of excellence. This highly rated hotel was also nominated the leading hotel in Croatia in 2014 and picked up the Luxury Travel Guide Global Award in 2016. It has all the ingredients for a relaxing holiday in a wonderful environment - Food is superb; staff are friendly and helpful; and rooms are spotless. The hotel facilities include an indoor pool and wellness centre, and a lovely outdoor pool on the summer terrace with simply stunning views across the coastline.

There are plenty of places to visit on the Istrian Riviera. Porec, with its old town and 6th century Basilica is a world heritage site. Rovinj, is a lovely old Venetian town where you can wander among artist’s workshops on Grisia Street or take in the views from St Euphemia’s Cathedral. Pula, the Istrian Capital has an enormous Roman Amphitheatre which is arguably in better shape than the Colosseum in Rome.

We visit in late May when you can expect warm weather ranging between mid-twenties and low thirties.

During your duplicate bridge holidays nothing is obligatory, you can play in as many or as few bridge sessions as you wish. Our bridge programmes will vary according to the length of your break and in addition to playing bridge, we will always endeavour to provide a minimum of two bridge seminars for breaks of 7 days or more.

All of our bridge holidays include bridge seminars with handouts in addition to a varied and interesting duplicate bridge programme. We use duplimated boards every evening to ensure fairness and consistency. Bridge hand records are provided, as well as bridge partners if needed.

Your duplicate bridge will usually be available twice daily, at 2.30pm and 7.45pm. The afternoon sessions usually finish between 4.45pm and 5pm, the evenings between 10.45pm - 11.15pm. The afternoons are normally given over to open pairs/teams. We endeavour to vary the evening sessions, with a balance between teams and pairs, with at least one Swiss style event during a two-week bridge break.

During all evening sessions, we utilise a duplimate machine, which means we are able to produce hand record sheets at the end of the session and when we have two or more sections, both can play the same hands. On our UK duplicate bridge breaks, provided numbers allow, we usually will lay on an "Early Bird" afternoon session on the day of arrival.

We don’t forget you are on holiday, our bridge programmes allow time for relaxation plus giving you plenty of opportunity to explore the surrounding area and relax.

Non sea facing rooms have ceiling to floor windows, and mainly overlook the courtyard.

Please note:- there is one floor that does not have lift access so please tell us if you wish to avoid being allocated a room on this (second) floor.
