If you’re looking for a relaxed holiday with duplicate bridge, our Play & Explore holidays are ideal. Less competitive than our club standard holidays and suitable for players of all levels, these tours combine a relaxed bridge programme with smaller group sizes and beautiful destinations. Our Play & Explore collection of holidays will include at least two excursions or an activity pass in the package, making them ideal for the explorer at heart.

Northern Cyprus is unquestionably a most beautiful place to visit. Its natural beauties include long coastlines of clean sandy beaches bordering turquoise blue waters, green mountains covered in pine trees, historical sites dating back thousands of years, picturesque villages full of local colour and cultures plus churches, castles, monasteries and vibrant cities.

We stay in the excellent Arkin Palm Beach Hotel in Famagusta. This 5 star hotel is very popular with British holidaymakers and attracts a lot of repeat visitors due to its constant high quality and standards throughout the hotel. The hotel is also rated #2 out of hotels in Famagusta on TripAdvisor and has received a Certificate of Excellence.

The Arkin Palm Beach is a nice size hotel with just 102 rooms, but benefits from having excellent facilities including an indoor pool and spa. The location is unique - described as a “Heaven on Earth Location” on the edge of its own private sandy beach overlooking the Mediterranean. Yet immediately to the right of the hotel , stretching along the coast as far as your eyes can see are the deserted hotels and buildings of what is known as “the Ghost Town ,Varosha” where ghosts would haunt us if we had a chance to go in! This suburb of Famagusta was considered the “Riviera of the Mediterranean” before the diversion of 1974.

To enable you to discover as much as possible in Northern Cyprus we have INCLUDED three excellent excursions in our package. All the tours will be guided by our knowledgeable local guide so you will get a real feel of the past history of the country.

One excursion will take us into the walled city of Nicosia, the only remaining divided capital left in the world, and where we view the biggest cathedral ever built on Cypriot soil, and ladies can shop until they drop on the famous “Shopping Galore” strip.

We spend a full day in Kyrenia, the capital of North Cyprus, where we visit the Harbour Castle and spend time in the colourful U shaped harbour brimming with cafes and shops. We also visit the beautifully preserved Bellapais Abbey and village.

Our third excursion takes us into the old town of Famagusta, once the most important port city on the island, and simply bursting with history. Lose yourself in the alleyways abundant with colourful bazaars, shops and cafes inside its massive city walls which are approx. 60ft high and 30ft thick! We visit the ancient Roman city of Salamis, with its famous Roman baths and theatre.

The Arkin Palm Beach is approximately 5 minutes’ drive to the main road where you will find shops and restaurants and cafes, and about a 15 minute walk to the historical sights that Famagusta is famous for.

It is possible to extend your bridge holiday with us by adding a week or two on our First for Bridge holiday to Cyprus, staying at the splendid Athena Royal Beach in Paphos.

You can either book 3 weeks from 4th March and stay two weeks at the Athena Royal Beach, Paphos, followed by one week at the Arkin Palm Beach, Famagusta. Or you can stay 7 nights in Paphos arriving 11th March followed by 7 nights in Famagusta. Either way we will transfer you from Paphos to Famagusta on 18th March.

If you wish to book the twin centre option you will need to book your outbound flight into Paphos, and return flight from Larnaca – travelling from Larnaca on one of the flights listed on our price page, and we will give you a reduction of £200 on the Famagusta package excluding flights. Our reservations staff will gladly advise you, and are able to assist with flight bookings.

Important – please note the bridge element on the Paphos Holiday is a First for Bridge Holiday with a varied programme, and the bridge in Famagusta is more relaxed "Play Bridge & Explore".
