Vienna is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. It is steeped in history, full of historic buildings from the Habsburg Empire, yet safe and clean with boulevards full of exquisite boutiques and tempting coffee houses. The city centre is compact and easy to negotiate your way around, with the impressive St Stephens Cathedral always in view and guiding you back to the heart of the city. Not to be missed is a performance at the famous Spanish Riding School, nor a tour of the Imperial Apartments in the Imperial Palace where the Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth resided.

We stay in the 4 star Kaiser Franz joseph Hotel, ideally located in the elegant and sophisticated 19th district of Vienna where you can conveniently take a tram into the heart of the city within 20 minutes, yet we benefit from staying in a really pleasant location where you can walk out and find open spaces, shops, cafes and everything you need on your doorstep. The delightful wine-making region of Grinzing is just a short walk or two tram stops away, and a wonderful place to relax; stroll around; eat and drink and simply enjoy the ambience of this famous wine village.

We have INCLUDED the following tours in our package:-

This four hour guided panoramic tour will take you around the Ring Boulevard where you will see impressive buildings such as the Parliament, City Hall; Votiv Church; Hofburg; and State Opera House. After we head to Grinzing where we invite you join us in a glass of wine in a typical Heuriger wine tavern.

We visit the former summer residence of the Habsburg dynasty, which is today a UNESCO World Cultural heritage site. This splendid baroque building dates back to the XVII century and we enjoy a guided tour of the grandiose rooms and extensive gardens, followed by coffee and café at a Viennese coffee house.

We visit the local bridge club and get to know the locals over an interesting bridge session and a friendly drink!

During your duplicate bridge holidays nothing is obligatory, you can play in as many or as few bridge sessions as you wish. Our bridge programmes will vary according to the length of your break and in addition to playing bridge, we will always endeavour to provide a minimum of two bridge seminars for breaks of 7 days or more.

All of our bridge holidays include bridge seminars with handouts in addition to a varied and interesting duplicate bridge programme. We use duplimated boards every evening to ensure fairness and consistency. Bridge hand records are provided, as well as bridge partners if needed.

Your duplicate bridge will usually be available twice daily, at 2.30pm and 7.45pm. The afternoon sessions usually finish between 4.45pm and 5pm, the evenings between 10.45pm - 11.15pm. The afternoons are normally given over to open pairs/teams. We endeavour to vary the evening sessions, with a balance between teams and pairs, with at least one Swiss style event during a two-week bridge break.

During all evening sessions, we utilise a duplimate machine, which means we are able to produce hand record sheets at the end of the session and when we have two or more sections, both can play the same hands. On our UK duplicate bridge breaks, provided numbers allow, we usually will lay on an "Early Bird" afternoon session on the day of arrival.

We don’t forget you are on holiday, our bridge programmes allow time for relaxation plus giving you plenty of opportunity to explore the surrounding area and relax.
