ITALIAN CAMPAIGN 75TH ANNIVERSARY - ROYAL MEMORIAL ARBORETUM

This Royal British Legion ‘Journey of Remembrance’ commemorates the 75th anniversary of the Campaign in Italy. Visit the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire for a special Service of Remembrance to honour the bravery and sacrifice of Allied forces who, while Operation Overlord, the codename given for the invasion of France in June ’44 was in its final planning stages, engaged in some of the hardest fighting in Europe.

You’ll stay at the Hilton St Georges Park Hotel. Nestled amidst peaceful, rolling Staffordshire countryside, the hotel is perfect to relax and enjoy the company of your fellow veterans.

This three-night tour is open to all veterans of the Italian Campaign and up to two family members/carers under the LIBOR Fines funding scheme. In addition, there is a travel allowance of up to £50 per person for independent travel arrangements to the hotel. For those travelling by rail shuttle buses will run between Lichfield and Burton Upon Trent stations and the hotel. In order to qualify for this tour, the veteran must fulfil the eligibility criteria detailed later.

Places on this tour are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis with priority given to veterans who have not travelled on a LIBOR funded tour previously.

The National Memorial Arboretum is the UK’s year-around centre of Remembrance. Nestled amongst lush and maturing woodland, more than 330 thought-provoking memorials represent military and civilian associations alongside tributes for individuals. Join us as we pay our respects with a special Service of Remembrance commemorating the 75th anniversary of the campaign that was a pivotal turning point in bringing an end to WWII. During our full day at the National Memorial Arboretum we’ll enjoy lunch with fellow veterans and have time to explore the vast 150-acre site using the Arboretum’s land trains. We return to the hotel in the late afternoon. A private gala dinner will be served in the hotel on this final evening.
