Immerse yourself in textiles & patchwork in the heart of the beautiful Alsace! Enjoy the company and expertise of Mandy Shaw on this 6-day holiday where the highlight promises to be the 25th Carrefour Europeen du Patchwork. Historical buildings, village halls and places of worship are turned into galleries exhibiting over 1,200 textile works of art in the four villages of Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, Sainte Croix-aux-Mines, Liepvre and Rombach-le-Franc in the wonderful Val D'argent.

You'll stay in a characterful hotel in the charming Old Town of Colmar whose cobblestoned streets and winding canals are lined with half-timbered medieval and renaissance buildings. Easily explored on foot, Colmar has a wealth of shops selling high quality goods and local produce as well as first-class restaurants serving delicious Alsatian cuisine.

Between Vosges and the Rhine, the Alsace is a mosaic of breathtaking natural landscapes - hills, peaks and plains dotted with castles, vineyards, traditional villages, and characterful towns brimming with culture and heritage.

Nestled among vineyards, Colmar is the capital of Alsatian wine. This enchanting town stands out for the richness and diversity of its heritage sites including listed buildings, Gothic architectural treasures and traditional half-timbered merchant's houses. Little Venice is the name given to the area that follows the course of the Lauch in Colmar. Starting at the Koifhus and passing through the historic fishmonger's district to the bridges Turenne and Saint-Pierre, this beautiful area with magnificent floral displays is well-worth exploring. Colmar is renowned for its gastronomy with a wealth of atmospheric restaurants serving excellent cuisine. It's historic cobblestone streets are lined with myriad small shops selling traditional Alsatian goods and produce.

The European Patchwork Meeting started in 1993, when the French Association of Anabaptism and Mennonite history organised a celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the Amish movement. Over the years, the event has grown and now includes classes, conferences, activities and a considerable commercial area specialising in everything 'patchwork'. Each year over 22,000 visitors are attracted to this internationally renowned event that is truly one of a kind!
