Experience the Gaelic charms of Ireland!

On this superb 6-day knitting holiday based in Ennis, County Clare, you'll enjoy workshops led by Jane Crowfoot and discover the stunning scenery, spirit and traditional crafts of the west coast of Ireland. Included excursions give you a chance to explore the charming city of Galway and visit the Leenane Sheep and Wool Centre amidst the rugged Connemara landscape.

Knitting has been a part of Irish life since the 1600's when knitting schools were established across the country. During the 18th century knitting became a source of income for many households thanks to an abundance of wool. Aran sweaters with their distinctive design are a symbol of Ireland. A full day excursion to the smallest of the Aran islands is a chance to learn about Aran knitting - the Innis Oirr way.

Meet Jane Crowfoot and your tour manager for the morning flight to Shannon. You'll visit the stunning Cliffs of Moher en route to the hotel. Get to know Jane and your fellow knitters at dinner this evening.

A day to get creative with morning and afternoon knitting workshops led by Jane.

This morning you'll travel to Doolin to catch the ferry to Innis Oirr, the smallest of the Aran islands, which are renowned for their preservation of the traditional ways of life. Aran sweaters have been worn by fishermen here for hundreds of years and patterns passed from generation to generation without being written down. After a wandering wagon tour of the island you'll meet with local knitters to create and knit your own Aran design inspired by the Innis Oirr landscape.

Today's full day excursion takes you first to Galway where you'll visit Knitwits and enjoy a guided walking tour through the historic winding streets of this colourful and cultural city. Beyond Galway lies Connermara where you'll visit the Leenane Sheep and Wool Centre for an insight into the importance of textiles to Connemara's past. Discover the history of sheep farming and learn about the methods of spinning and weaving as you see wheels and looms dating back to the turn of the last century.

Your last full day in Ireland will be spent knitting with Jane. This evening enjoy a final get together and dinner with your fellow knitters in the hotel.

Morning transfer to Shannon Airport for the return flight to London.
