Join Pat Archibald on this exciting tour to Canada! It's the perfect opportunity to combine a magical journey aboard the legendary Rocky Mountaineer, and indulge your stitching passions with two full days of sewing machine based workshops in Anne Dale's 'My Sewing Room' and a truly memorable visit to Calgary's wonderful Festival of Quilts.

THE ROCKY MOUNTAINEER JOURNEY

Undoubtedly one of the world's greatest railway journeys, an experience aboard the Rocky Mountaineer is truly unforgettable. From the moment you alight the train in Vancouver enjoy a touch of luxury, excellent cuisine, warm, friendly service and a kaleidoscope of ever-changing, incomparable scenery. Highlights of the journey include Cisco Crossing where the CP and CN rail tracks overlap, the Black Canyon and famous Hoodoos - legend has it these formations are people turned into pillars through witchcraft! See Craigellachie, the site of the 'Last Spike' where Canada's East & West were united by 3,200 kilometres of railway track and trace the shoreline of Kinbasket Lake with its calm, blue-green waters. Follow the Kicking Horse river deep into the Canadian Rockies with its stunning snow-capped peaks and iconic Castle Mountain. Marvel as you twist your way through the Spiral Tunnels - an extraordinary feat of Swiss engineering built by the Canadian Pacific Railway and 1,000 men.

CALGARY'S FESTIVAL OF QUILTS

2019 is the 24th anniversary of Calgary's wonderful Festival of Quilts. The show, which is the largest quilt show in Western Canada, takes place in the city's historic Heritage Park. Hundreds of stunning quilts of all shapes, sizes and techniques will decorate the park's exhibits - both inside and out. Both avid quilters and those who simply enjoy viewing beautiful work will love this one of a kind quilt show. The Quilt Community Showcase is a chance to meet guild members and discover what quilters in Calgary are working on, whilst over the two-day show a number of 'How-to' demonstrations are designed to inspire your creativity. A variety of businesses from Western Canada come together in Merchants Mall - a one-stop opportunity to shop for all your quilting needs!
