A MESSAGE FROM KARIN:

"This tour to Norway takes in sew much of this beautiful country. The highlight is a visit to Tilda’s World, on the extraordinarily beautiful island of Tjome in the Oslo fjord. Then onto Oslo for Norway Day where the locals dress in many variations of their national costume. Here, we will also have time to visit museums featuring Kontiki, Ra, Viking ships and folklore. The train journey across to Voss is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the world, passing forests, mountains, waterfalls, lakes and snowfields. Finally, we have a day in the scenic Hardanger fjord where we can not only see wonderful examples of the local embroidery but also learn to do it! Included in this tour are three very varied workshops all kitted out for you as well as the opportunity to visit the top quilting shop in Norway. My family come from Norway and I would like to invite you to join me on this wonderful trip, which will give you an insight into the land of my fathers. "

On Bygdoy Peninsula we’ll visit the Norsk Folkmuseum, which highlights the history and culture of Norway’s many regions. Some of the buildings in the open-air museum date back to the 1200’s, whilst indoors the exhibitions feature national treasures and artefacts including national costumes, traditional jewellery and wood carvings. There is also time if you wish to visit the popular Viking Ship Museum or the Kon-Tiki Museum documenting the expedition of the famous explorer Thor Heyerdahl.

DAY 5:

Today is Norwegian Constitution Day and you are invited to join in the celebrations! Oslo’s streets will be awash with colour as locals wearing their traditional bunad and waving their Norwegian flag watch as marching bands lead the children’s parade to the Royal Palace.
