Join our expert Janet Clare for a long weekend of quilting, sightseeing and textile discovery. Now in its 13th year, the Prague Patchwork Meeting is a truly international experience with exhibitors from across Europe as well as Canada, USA, Taiwan, Australia, South Korea and Japan. Boasting four halls of galleries and shops there's plenty to see and do for quilters of all levels of experience. But your Prague experience doesn't end there! During two half days of sightseeing our local guide will show us the highlights of the city including the Astronomical Clock, Prague Castle and the iconic Charles Bridge as well as textile exhibitions at the Museum of Decorative Arts and Jewish Museum. And that’s not all! Janet will be hosting two short workshops at our hotel and we've allowed some free time for you to relax at the hotel, explore Prague with your new friends or indeed go shopping!

Meet Janet and our Tour Manager at Heathrow airport for our flight to Prague. Our coach and driver will meet us at the airport and take us to our hotel. A 3-course evening meal at the hotel is included each evening.

A full day at the Prague Patchwork Meeting; plenty of time for you to explore the four halls of shops and galleries displaying quilts from across the world.

Our first half-day guided tour of Prague will take us to many of the highlights of this beautiful city as well as entrance to:

St Vitus Cathedral the largest and most important church in the Czech Republic, location of the coronation of Czech kings and queens. The cathedral dates from 1344 and is a prominent example of Gothic architecture. The most outstanding place in the cathedral is the Chapel of St. Wenceslas, which houses the relics of the saint. Its magnificent decoration includes wall paintings dating from the 14th century.

Old Royal Palace the original Royal Palace was built, mostly of wood, in the 9th and 10th centuries. In the 12th century a stone Romanesque Palace was built and then enlarged in the first half of the 14th century. The palace was deserted for eighty years until the end of the 15th century when King Vladislav commenced a large-scale reconstruction. The magnificent Vladislav Hall was added, combining the art of late Gothic and early Renaissance styles. From the 16th century, Vladislav Hall was the scene of coronation festivities and banquets, knights' tournaments and markets with artistic and luxurious goods. The Vladislav Hall still partly fulfils the state function: ceremonial gatherings connected with important days in the life of this country are still held there.

St George's Basilica the second church of Prague (after the cathedral) dating back to the Romanesque period.

Golden Lane is the remainder of modest dwellings inhabited by defenders of the castle, servants and goldsmiths; from which the lane takes its name. The picturesque character of the lane has been carefully preserved. During the tour we'll visit the homes of a member of the guard, a fortune teller, and a goldsmith.

Museum of Decorative Art opened in 1900, the museum's rich collections include decorative and applied arts and design work ranging from Late Antiquity to the present day, particularly arts and crafts created in the Bohemian lands. Our focus will be on the exhibition entitled The Story of Fibre: Textiles and Fashion.

After some free time for lunch and shopping we'll return to the hotel for the first of Janet's hand-sewing workshops.

Our second half-day guided tour of Prague takes us to:

Prague Castle is the most significant monument in the Czech Republic and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The castle was founded by 880 and is the largest castle complex in the world.

Jewish Museum is one of the most visited museums in Prague. Its collection is one of the largest in the world, about 40,000 objects, 100,000 books, and a copious archive of Jewish community histories. Our focus will be the textile collection; the largest collection of Ashkenazi textiles in the world.

After free time for lunch and shopping we'll return to the hotel for Janet's second hand-sewing workshop

With a late afternoon flight, today is yours to do as you wish. Central Prague is just a short tram ride away, where you can continue with your own sightseeing and shopping. Or relax in the hotel or take a stroll around the nearby parks. Your Tour Manager will be on hand to help and guide you.

Our late afternoon flight will take us back to Heathrow airport, full of memories of the quilts we have seen, the places we have explored and the friends we have made.
