Join us on this 6-night holiday to the lovely city of Verona in the company of Karin Hellaby. Discover the wonderful textile exhibits at the Verona Tessile, immerse yourself in the splendour of Lake Garda and visit the glorious city of Venice.

The Verona Tessile transforms the city into a diffused museum of textile art with exhibits located in museums, churches and other beautiful locations throughout the city. The holiday includes a walking tour of Verona and a visit to one of the cities textile shops. At Lake Garda we’ll visit Malcesine, a picturesque town with medieval cobbled lanes to explore, and enjoy some wine tasting in the Valpolicela hills. Our full-day excursion to Venice includes the lace-making island of Burano. Last, but by no means least, you will enjoy a full day workshop, hosted by Karin Hellaby.

VERONA TESSILE

The Verona Tessile programme features meetings and workshops designed to discover old techniques, new expressive forms and the peculiarities and characteristics of textile art across the world. The event aims to highlight textiles not only as a hobby but also as an art form with historical and cultural roots in the various countries of origin.

A MESSAGE FROM KARIN

"This textile tour has such a lot to offer lovers of all things Italian! We will be based in Verona, home to opera, Romeo and Juliet and The Tessile - The bi-annual Verona Textile exhibition. A day around Lake Garda will include shopping and time for lunch in the delightful old town of Malcesine, followed by a wine tasting in the Valpocelli Hills. We will also have a day trip to my favourite city, Venice, with a boat ride to Burano, full of coloured houses and lace making. My workshop will have an Italian theme featuring a cover for an art book/diary. The kit includes the wonderful Aurifil threads, made of course in Italy! I hope you will consider joining me on this fabulous tour."

This morning our local guide will take us on a walking tour of Verona. You’ll see the Piazza Bra, the magnificent Roman arena and the famous Romeo and Juliet balcony. The afternoon is free to do as you wish; further explore the Tessile exhibits, shop for souvenirs or sit and enjoy an ice cream and watch the world go by.

DAY 4: LAKE GARDA

Our included full day excursion to Lake Garda will firstly take us to the picturesque town of Malcesine where we’ll spend some time strolling the medieval lanes and pretty little squares with cafes and shops selling handbags, shoes, limoncello and clothes. In the afternoon we’ll continue to the Valpolicella hills, an area of Italy famous for its wine. We’ll enjoy a wine tasting here, before returning to Verona. Lunch is included today.

DAY 5: VERONA
