We are excited to announce that Lynette Anderson is hosting her first Stitchtopia holiday in Nantes; a historical city in the north-west region of France and venue for the Pour l’amour du fil International show for thread-based arts.

Patchwork, Quilting, Sewing, Embroidery, Home Décor and Knitting are all represented at the show, attracting some of the world’s best-known experts and visitors from across the globe. As well as a full day at the show this tour includes two full day workshops with Lynette (during each one you will work on a ‘mystery’ project that Lynette will be curating for the tour), along with excursions to show you the best of the local area. We’ll take a guided tour of Nantes; travel to the textile museum at Cholet and enjoy a full day excursion along the banks of the river Sevre.

One of Australia’s leading patchwork, quilting and fabric designers, Lynette Anderson has a sophisticated naïve design style sought after around the world. Since 1995, Lynette has created countless patterns including quilts, pillows, bags, sewing accessories and buttons. She has published nine books, with two more on the way and designed more than 25 fabric collections.

Inspired by childhood memories and other moments in time, Lynette’s designs are unique in that they always start with her original pencil line drawings.

Lynette now splits her time, between designing at her home, studio and shop –Little Quilt Store -on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. One of her greatest passions is teaching and Lynette enjoys travelling the world teaching.

Meet Lynette and our Tour Manager at London Gatwick airport for our flight to Nantes. Our coach and driver will meet us at the airport and take us to our hotel.

A 3-course evening meal is included this evening.

This morning we’ll enjoy a guided walking tour of Nantes, visiting the three main historical quarters in the city, dating from the Middle Ages and 18th and 19th centuries. The tour will finish at Nantes’ iconic castle, Le Chateau des Ducs de Bretagne. The castle was built at the end of the 15th century by Francois II and his daughter, Anne de Bretagne. After free time for lunch we’ll travel by coach to Cholet for a guided tour of the textile museum there. Housed in a former textile bleaching factory, the museum presents an overview of Cholet’s textile industry and its techniques. The famous ‘Red Handkerchief of Cholet’ is still woven here.

Full day workshop with Lynette at the hotel.

Full day at Pour l’amour du fil show. If you would like to take part in any of classes or workshops that are taking place, please book these directly with the show organisers here.

Today we’ll travel by coach along the banks of the river Sevre, stopping for wine tasting at a chateau, lunch at a local ‘auberge’, a visit to the picturesque Medieval town of Clisson and to the papermill at Liveau, now a working museum.
