We travel by Eurostar to Brussels where we take a connecting train to Cologne. On arrival, we transfer to our hotel for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, we journey by train to Stralsund via Hanover. Our ship, the MS Princess is moored in Stralsund and the historical centre is a delight to explore, with imposing churches, gothic gabled houses, and the beautiful town hall with its distinctive facades. We spend a relaxing evening on board and those travelling by air join us this evening.
We leave Stralsund early this morning and begin cruising towards Lauterbach on the isle of Rügen.
The morning is free to explore the city of Eberswalde which was founded in 1254. At the end of the Second World War, the old town was badly damaged, but some historic buildings and streets have been preserved. The Finow Canal flows through the centre of Eberswalde, the Oder-Havel Canal, which is more important today, runs north of the city. The boom crane, whose silhouette has become the city's landmark and whose platform offers a good view, is striking and visible from afar. In the city centre, the market square with the two town halls is worth seeing. The old town hall is a baroque town house from 1775, the new town hall was built at the beginning of the last century. This afternoon, we set sail for Berlin where we arrive later this evening.
After breakfast, we take the train from Cologne to Brussels and connect with the Eurostar back to London St Pancras International.
