This morning we cruise upriver along the Rhine through the spectacular Rhine Gorge, arriving in Boppard after lunch. Boppard lies in the Rhine Gorge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is made up of lively squares and quaint lanes where traces of its early Roman heritage are evident. This afternoon you have free time to explore at your own pace, so why not visit the Roman Fort or the some of the town’s pretty medieval churches. You can also stroll along the promenade and visit some of the chic cafés and cosy wine taverns. Enjoy a relaxing evening on board as we berth overnight in Boppard.
This morning we set sail for the charming town of Eltville, where we arrive in the early afternoon. Eltville is known for its wine and Sekt production (sparkling wine). It’s also known as the Rose City and its easy to see why - home to more than 350 varieties of Roses, the magnificent Rose Garden in the courtyard of the Electoral Castle is a must see, as are the castle tower and pretty market square. Alternatively, you can join us on our optional excursion to the wine town of Rüdesheim where you will have free time to explore. Don’t miss the Drosselgasse – a pretty lane lined with shops, taverns and restaurants, where we will enjoy a famous Rüdesheimer coffee before returning to Eltville.
We cruise this morning to the historic city of Koblenz where we arrive in the early afternoon. Located at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers, Koblenz is one of the most picturesque towns on the Rhine. Here you can join our optional excursion for a trip on the Koblenz cable car, which offers breathtaking views across the region along with entrance to the magnificent Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. Relax on board this evening as we berth overnight in Koblenz.
This morning we bid farewell to our captain and crew and disembark for your return journey to the UK.
Bernkastel is a quintessential medieval German town, featuring a charming market square with quaint cafés and streets lined with half-timbered houses. It is also a centre for wine-making. Join us on this tour to a local winery where you can sample some of the region’s delicious wines.
