This morning we cruise upriver along the Rhine through the spectacular Rhine Gorge, arriving in Boppard after lunch. Boppard lies in the Rhine Gorge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is made up of lively squares and quaint lanes where traces of its early Roman heritage are evident. This afternoon we have included a wine tasting in Boppard. Here, our local expert sommeliers will present local wines from the middle Rhine Valley, which of course you will sample, in the company of Oz Clarke. You’ll then have free time to explore at your own pace, so why not visit the Roman Fort or the some of the town’s charming medieval churches. You can also stroll along the promenade and visit some of the chic cafés and cosy wine taverns. Enjoy a relaxing evening on board as we are berthed overnight in Boppard.
This morning we set sail for the quaint town of Rüdesheim where we arrive after lunch.
There are two optional excursions to enjoy today. The first gives you the chance to visit the unique Siegfried’s Mechanical Museum and get a bird’s-eye view of the breathtaking Rhine Valley from a cable car up high. This evening you can join our optional tour to visit a traditional wine cellar and sample some of the superb wine that the region is so famous for. Relax this evening as we are berthed overnight in Rüdesheim.
We cruise this morning to the historic city of Koblenz. Located at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers, Koblenz is one of the most picturesque towns on the Rhine. Here you can join our optional excursion for a trip on the Koblenz cable car, which offers beautiful views across the region along with entrance to the magnificent Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. Relax on board this evening as we are berthed overnight in Koblenz.
This morning we set sail to the charming town of Cochem, where we arrive in the early afternoon. Cochem is located on the banks of the Moselle River and is dominated by the Reichsburg castle which is over 1000 years old and was re-stored in the 19th century in neo-Gothic style. This afternoon you have the opportunity to join our optional excursion to the castle where you’ll enjoy a guided tour. This evening we berth in Cochem overnight.
We enjoy a leisurely day cruising from Cochem to Bernkastel where we arrive later this afternoon. Bernkastel is a picturesque 700-year-old town with a lovely market square and, of course, it is well known for its wine. Explore at leisure or join us on an optional wine tasting excursion where you will learn all about wine production as you sample delicious local produce, surrounded by vineyards and beautiful scenery. We set sail this evening for Andernach.
Enjoy breakfast with a view this morning as we cruise along the Rhine back to Andernach, arriving in the afternoon.
The town was originally established in 12BC by the Romans, making it one of the oldest towns in Germany and on arrival, you are free to explore at leisure.
Why not visit the Runder Turm (Round Tower) for amazing views of the town, or browse for local souvenirs in the many shops. Return to the ship for a relaxing final evening on board.

Enjoy an exhilarating ride across the Rhine to visit the mighty Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, Europe’s second largest surviving fortress where you can immerse yourself in a world of Celts, Romans and Knights. The Koblenz Cable Car was built for the 2011 BUGA Flower Show and is one of the largest cable cars in Europe outside the Alps, which offers amazing views of Koblenz and the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers.

A road train ride transports you to view fascinating examples of early 1900 mechanical music making systems at Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Museum. We also include a cable car ride that rises 37 metres up the hillside to reach the iconic Niederwald Monument. This is a unique experience, taking you over the sloping vineyards for an amazing panoramic view of the romantic Rhine valley.

A road train transports you to a traditional wine cellar to sample some of the region’s best wines, before exploring the captivating Drosselgasse, which is filled with little taverns and courtyards and is the cultural heart of the town. We stop on the way in a tavern for a traditional Rüdesheim coffee, music and dancing.

Oz’s best-selling books include his popular annual guides ‘Pocket Wine Book’ and ‘250 Best Wines Wine Buying Guide’, ‘Wine Atlas’ (2007), ‘Let me tell you about wine’ (2014), and ‘Bordeaux’ which won the Louis Roederer International Wine Writers’ Award 2009 and was republished in 2012. In 2015 ‘The History of Wine in 100 Bottles’ and ‘Grapes & Wines’ won Gourmand Drink Awards 2015 ‘Best Wine Book’ and ‘Best Drinks Education Book’ respectively.
