View all African Queen Cruises

Beautifully converted by its loving owners, the award-winning African Queen is one of only a handful of floating hotels that sails along the River Thames. Formerly a working Dutch barge, African Queen is simply bursting with character. The lower deck has eight cosy cabins accommodating 14 guests, whilst the upper deck has a small sun deck with seating, an attractive dining area and bar for socialising. The owners, both an excellent skipper and charming hosts, are warm and welcoming - creating a relaxed, friendly atmosphere on board.

Ship Facilities

Restaurant / Bar
The hospitality and cuisine on board African Queen is second to none. On the upper deck the inside cabin is open-plan with one area for dining, a lounge with comfortable seating and traditional-style bar. Under a beautifully polished wood-panelled ceiling, the décor artfully combines the nautical with touches representing both British and Cape Malay heritage. The interior of the upper deck is naturally light with picture windows running along both sides of the cabin ensuring guests don’t miss a moment of the wonderful views. African Queen’s home-cooked food is truly something special. Menus are imaginative including both traditional English cuisine and delicious Dutch and Cape Malay-style dishes.

Cabin Types

African Queen has eight cabins on her lower deck. There are two single-bedded cabins, four double-bedded cabins, one cabin with twin beds and a superior double-bedded cabin/suite. All are tastefully-decorated, have en-suite facilities and a small window that opens and allows plenty of natural light.
