Today, you will experience the Arenal region with the convenience of a full-day guided tour from San Jose. Today we find ourselves in Quepos, a small busy harbour town that serves as the gateway to the Manuel Antonio National Park. Quepos is a tropical inlet backed by rainforest and is most famous for being one of the best places in the world for big-game sport fishing. Grab a bite to eat in one of Quepos’ many wonderful restaurants, stroll through the easy to navigate streets and join the hustle and bustle with the friendly locals.

Next stop is Golfito, Costa Rica’s most southern port town. This town was built on bananas, as the United Fruit Company moved its regional headquarters here in the 1930s and remained until its departure in the 1980s. Nowadays, Golfito serves as a gateway for visitors who wish to surf at Pavones or take park in sport-fishing. There are plenty of activities on offer including horseback riding, kayaking, spending in the shopping district, visiting the nearby mangrove forests, or just sitting back and relaxing on the tropical beach.

Today, we make our way to Golfo de Chiriquí, the home to a national marine park with an area of just over 147 sq kilometres, protecting 25 islands and 19 coral reefs, which host abundant wildlife. It is home to howler monkeys, several types of nesting sea turtles and 280 recorded bird species. You will be able to snorkel, surf or kayak in the calm waters or take a big game fishing trip.

Enjoy a day stopping at Iguana Island, a natural attraction of the Azuero Peninsula offering the only white sand beach in the region, perfectly paired with aquamarine waters. Iguana Island is only accessible by boat and is inhabited by rare birds, purple and red crabs and of course, iguanas. This island is considered to be a wildlife refuge, and is great for snorkelling, where you may spot moray eels, rays and turtles swimming in the warm waters. There is also a hiking trail that you can follow to see rare nesting birds.

Uncover San Jose Island, the second largest in the Pearl Islands. It is located just 90 kilometres from Panama City in the Gulf of Panama. The waters of San Jose abound in tropical game fish and are considered among the best deep sea fishing grounds in the world. They host an abundance of tuna, black marlin, coberra, red snapper, lobster, shrimps, and giant oysters. Coconut palms and wild sugar cane pepper the irregular coastline. There is also a spectacular array of beaches to be found that vary in colour from coral white to ebony black and golden.

Disembark Star Clipper in Balboa, and transfer from the port to 4-star hotel in Panama City, where you will stay for the next three nights.

We start exploring Panama by visiting the Chagres Rainforest, one of the most important forest and water reserves in Panama. A traditional canoe will take us to a point at the shore in the middle of the Chagres River, from there we will hike among real jungle walking over mud, water, and rocks to a beautiful and pristine waterfall where you can swim in its refreshing and shallow water. We will visit a real Embera indigenous community who will welcome us to enjoy music and dances in a traditional hut followed by a conversation with the chief or one of the leaders about the culture and way of life of this tribe until today. Have the option to travel with a large group or choose a private tour to set your own pace making it feel much more personal.

Observe the white-face monkeys, howler monkeys and Geoffrey’s tamarinds when you arrive on Monkey Island during this tour from Panama City. Today, you will transfer from your hotel to the airport for an internal flight to Iquitos, Peru. Transfer from the airport to 4-star Samiria Jungle Hotel where you will stay for two nights.
