Marketing Manager

Location: Market Harborough. Primarily office based with flexibility of hybrid working on a request basis (to be discussed at interview stage).

Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week - Monday – Friday 9:00 – 17:30 (1-hour unpaid lunch).

Marketing Manager - Arena Travel

This role will suit an ambitious Marketing professional looking to develop into a more senior role as we build the marketing function under new ownership of this dynamic travel business. The successful candidate will be responsible for devising and executing the group-wide Marketing plan across all brands within agreed timeframes, in line with key campaign periods. With the support of a marketing team, you will develop captivating campaigns (both online and offline) that are channel and market-relevant. The Marketing Manager will work very closely with the Product Managers of individual brands by supporting them through the development of carefully crafted marketing plans that are designed to meet individual commercial sales objectives.

Key responsibilities

  • Marketing planning and strategy – full involvement in the marketing strategy development, planning and implementation.
  • Campaign production - production of all group-wide marketing go-to-market content across all channels for website, direct mail and for brochures.
  • Campaign scheduling -responsible for the group-wide content marketing plan. Working on a campaign basis and scheduling in the production of all content across all marketing channels.
  • Website content
    • Responsible for CMS and ensuring that new product is added to the website in a timely manner including overseeing copy writing and sourcing of supportive media
    • Ensure that landing pages are informative and engaging, taking into consideration key aspects of SEO, CRO and UX (working closely with the Digital Marketing consultant and agencies to achieve this)
    • Ensure that campaigns are promoted prominently, with full focus on conversion optimisation
  • Brochure & direct mail campaigns ○ Responsible for scheduling and overseeing brochure and direct mail campaigns
  • Email marketing - oversees the group-wide email marketing plan based on the Content Schedule
    • Manages team responsible for producing all group-wide email marketing activity
    • Work closely with the Digital Marketing agency to develop strategies and ensure that data selections are accurate and relevant
    • Review performance on an ongoing basis
  • Organic social - in line with the Content Schedule, develop and executive a social media content plan that effectively promotes all campaigns to the relevant target audiences.
  • Brand(s) champion - being the group-wide main point of contact for content marketing decisions relating to every brand.
  • Managing group-wide media content -responsible for the company-wide media libraries including imagery, videos, logos and style-guides.
  • Responsible for maintaining relationships with key suppliers and keeping up to date logins for third party media libraries.

Key relationships

  • Will report into the Managing Director
  • Will have three Marketing Executive direct reports
  • Working closely with the Product Managers
  • Will work alongside the Digital Marketing consultant and agencies on performance-related aspects of content including SEO, paid social, PPC
  • Will work alongside the Digital Marketing consultant and agencies on data selections for marketing campaigns
  • Will work alongside the eCommerce and web development teams on all aspects relating to the website including defects, performance, CMS enhancements and usability

Essential skills

  • Has previously managed a small Marketing team
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage more than one brand in any given day
  • Previous experience of devising and executing Content Marketing plans 
  • The ability to get under the skin of each brand, to understand their target market(s) and to create compelling campaigns that are channel-specific, that will engage, inform and convert 
  • Hands-on approach with confidence to put forward and develop new ideas 
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines 
  • A team player, with the ability to build relationships with the wider stakeholders

Not essential, but welcomed

  • Excellent copywriting skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to craft relevant, inspirational travel content across multiple channels 
  • Experience in working in the travel industry 
  • A passion for travel 
  • An interest or knowledge in any of the specialist interest areas that relate to our specialist brands
