A quick make needle case using a rather obscure folded patchwork technique that has been little utilised over the years (in my humble opinion). It involves both machine and some hand stitching.

You Will Need:
  • Fabric A – Natural Linen – one fat quarter
  • Fabric B – Liberty Prints – scraps, charm packs approximately ½ metre total – largest piece 12” by 6”
  • Fabric C - Felted wool or wool felt in cream for interior pages – one fat quarter
  • Fabric D - Wadding – 7” by 12” I used Pellon Flex Foam fusible which gave a firm structure, but you could use quilt batting of mid or low loft if you want a softer look (or want to go easier on your sewing machine!)
  • General sewing kit including fine hand sewing needles

Optional:
  • One vintage pearlized button – ¾” diameter
  • Hi-Tack Fabric Glue
  • 20 stick-on pearlized buttons – available from Amazon approx. 1/8” diameter
  • Thin pink ribbon – 20”
  • Lightweight stabiliser 6” square – I used Pellon Shape Flex which is a cotton fusible interfacing
  • Matching Sewing Thread – I used YLI invisible thread and Bottom-Line thread in light grey (colour code 630)
  • Frixion marker pen or other form of marker
  • 505 Temporary Fabric Adhesive Spray
  • Walking Foot
