Join Stitchtopia in the world of virtual crafting as we host a collection of fantastic workshops with some of our most popular experts through zoom. Virtually catch up with fellow crafters, meet some new faces and of course learn some handy techniques along the way... all in the comfort of your own home!

In this online workshop delivered live on Zoom you will learn how to make an origami style bag. Once you have mastered a simple version, Pat will show you how to adapt the pattern to make more complex looking bags. Pat will demonstrate all the folding and stitching techniques and introduce other embellishments, as well as a variety of handles to complete the bag. This is a lovely relaxing machine stitching workshop that will inspire you to create more of these items as gifts for friends.

SKILL LEVEL: Suitable for anyone with a sewing machine with a straight stitch.

You will need:

(Requirements based on 100% patchwork cotton fabrics)

  • Two coordinating fat quarters of fabric
  • Scissors, pins, hand sewing needles, chopstick or similar item to poke out corners
  • Rotary Cutter, Mat and Ruler
  • Sewing machine fitted with ¼” foot and threaded up with a machine thread in a colour to suit your fabric and a filled bobbin.
  • Iron and ironing pad
  • Optional – a small square of Bondaweb or similar fusible web approx. 3” square
