Paphos has been a firm favourite with British holiday makers for many years. In March the weather is usually pleasant and making it an ideal escape from the cold UK climate. If you find time to tear yourself away from the bridge and bowling and everything else the Athena Royal Beach has to offer you will find a great choice of excursions available ‐ to the Troodos Mountains, Limassol, the villages of Latchi and Polis, Kyrenia in Turkish Cyprus, and the divided capital Nicosia. Hiring a car is also a great way to see the island and car hire is inexpensive and, in Cyprus, they drive on the left!
The Athena Royal Beach is widely commended by First for Bridge guests for its excellent cuisine and service. This wonderful hotel is First for Bridge guest's favourite hotel within this hotel group. Our guests love this adult only four star superior hotel because with just 208 bedrooms it is smaller and more intimate than its neighbouring hotel - and of course we have the wonderful Royal or Artemis Hall dedicated to our group for our bridge sessions and seminars.
Included to enhance your holiday:
Visit one of the best known monasteries in Cyprus, St Neophytos. Founded in the 12th Century, the monastery is now a museum and boasts some lovely views over Paphos from the grounds. We will then travel to Latsi Harbour; the perfect place for a stroll amongst the yachts and to sample the local fish from the many tavernas.
We will also visit the legendary Aphrodite’s birthplace, one of the most famous beauty spots on the south coast of the island. It is an interesting geological formation of huge rocks, where according to myth the beautiful Goddess of Love, Aphrodite emerged naked from the water. We shall also have time to visit Limassol and the new marina where you will have time to wander at leisure.
Facilities include one indoor and three outdoor swimming pools, indoor and outdoor Jacuzzis, tennis court, a health spa, table tennis, boccia, shuffleboard, and indoor and outdoor short mat bowls and outdoor flat bowls green. Guests have complimentary beach towels, and sunbeds and umbrellas around the pool and on the beach. We dine in the Pygmalion Restaurant each evening, where you can choose from the huge selection of buffet dishes on offer and enjoy delicious fresh show cooking.
