EBU Majorca Congress
The March 2024 EBU Overseas Congress will now take place at the 4-star Hotel Bella Playa & Spa, Cala Ratjada.
Cala Ratjada is a well-established resort and port on the beautiful northeast coast of Majorca that up until recently was virtually undiscovered by British tourists. As a result, it is completely unspoilt, allowing you to enjoy delightful coastal promenades, as well as an abundance of traditional restaurants and tapas bars. Not to be missed is a haggle in the local Saturday market in the old town; where you can treat yourself to some leather goods or pick up a souvenir. The area is beautiful with a dramatic coastline and many sandy bays, perfect for wonderful coastal walks. Golfers will appreciate the choice of excellent golf courses in the vicinity.
The hotel offers excellent facilities including a large indoor pool with hydro jets, saunas, and steam rooms, as well as a lovely outdoor pool and terraces.
Included is a full day tour to the beautiful north coast of the island. We stop in the popular Port d'Alcudia with its long, flat beach promenade abundant with shops and cafés, contrasting its old Roman site, and perfectly restored city walls and ancient houses. We visit the beautiful old town, resort, and harbour of Puerto Pollensa, and take a boat trip to Formentor.

Chris and Linda Benneworth
Linda and Chris have been married since 1971, having met while they were teaching at the same high school.
Following successful careers in education, they retired in the late nineties and started directing together, working at first in local and more recently in overseas congresses. They ran the North Eastern Bridge Association Congress for a number of years in Otterburn, Consett and Gateshead, an event with a deserved reputation for friendliness. Since 2019, they have worked as hosts and director at EBU overseas congresses in Athens, Sicily and Rome. They even play together occasionally to ensure there are full tables. Chris is an EBU national director who also teaches others the art of directing and Linda is a qualified county director.
They both believe that bridge is a great game which is meant to be enjoyed, and a holiday is the perfect way of doing that.
Ro Kaye
Ro enjoys playing bridge at her local club, Cheltenham. She has been chairman there and run the Congress Committee for several years too. She is actively involved in EBEDD as child protection officer and loves participating in the local youth teaching scheme as well as being one of the organisers of the Junior Spring Camp.
Hosting First for Bridge holidays ensures that she gets to know lots of guests and loves meeting up with them again at new venues.

North of the Island Tour
We depart from the hotel at 9:30am. Passing through the tourist areas of Can Picafort and Playa de Muro, we arrive in Alcudia and take a short walk through the old city with its perfectly restored Roman walls and ancient houses. We continue towards Puerto de Pollensa where we take a boat that takes us to Playa de Formentor (duration of about 25 minutes). Enjoy some free time on beautiful Formentor beach before we return by bus along a scenic mountain route, stopping at the spectacular Colomar viewpoint to view of the Bay of Pollensa, before returning to our hotel at approximately 5pm.

The Hotel Bella Playa & Spa in Cala Ratjada is commended it for its excellent dining and friendly service as well as its warm atmosphere and relaxing facilities. Located just a short distance from the sea, rooms at this 4-star, privately owned hotel have recently been refurbished and guests can expect a high standard of service throughout.
The hotel serves a variety of cuisine from the restaurant which has a large terrace with beautiful views of the sea. There is a very good choice of hot, cold and freshly prepared dishes from the buffet breakfast tables. Dinner is buffet style with a wide selection of dishes, including a pasta table and show cooking where meat and fish are cooked fresh each evening.
