The Castle Château Belá is very highly rated on Trip Advisor and has won awards under the Historic Hotels of Europe. In fact you could say it is fit for a prince - Prince Harry himself stayed here when he attended a wedding 3 years ago.

The sophisticated Castle Château Belá in Slovakia really needs to be experienced to appreciate its high quality and standard throughout. It is steeped in history as far back as 1138 and has seen many changes as this region of Europe moved its borders over the years. In 2000 this baroque chateau was bought back by a previous family owner and lovingly restored in a very authentic and personal way into exclusive accommodation.

Inside you will find an array of elegant public rooms with period furniture, fine paintings and luxurious furnishings. We play bridge in the Orangerie which overlooks the landscaped gardens and fountains and chateau terraces where you can relax and sip one of the chateaus own famous wines.

It is set in 28 hectares of land where you will discover woods, fields of sunflowers, vineyards, a cottage & herb garden, livestock, and three lakes. Take a picnic, walk, sit and relax, and simply absorb this incredible landscape.

The Chateau offers a range of facilities including an outdoor pool (seasonal), steam room and sauna, 2 tennis courts, fitness centre, and it even has its own cinema.

The hamlet of Bela is small - with just one shop, but if you can manage to pull yourself away from the chateau and its beautiful grounds local buses or a 10 minute taxi ride will take you into Sturovo, the most southern city in Slovakia, which is situated on the Danube itself. Here you will find shops & restaurants, a railway station, and the Vadas Thermal Resort - which is a popular thermal centre with 7 outdoor and 2 indoor pools. From Sturovo you can walk across the Maria Valeria Bridge into Hungary - or take the fun train across.

INCLUDED: - A full day tour to Budapest with a guided sightseeing tour of this famous city on the River Danube with its incredible Houses of Parliament, Matthias Church and Fishermen’s Bastion. Incl. free time to shop and lunch.

INCLUDED - A full day tour of the picturesque “Danube Bend” with a stop in Szentendre, the colourful artists town, and a visit to Visegrad with its imposing medieval citadel . From here we take an hour boat trip on the Danube.

INCLUDED - A half day excursion to the historic city of Esztergom, the previous Hungarian Capital. We have a guided tour of the neo classical cathedral - the third largest cathedral in Europe, dating back thousands of years and full of treasures. This imposing building sits on the top of Castle Hill offering incredible view points over the Danube and the old town.

INCLUDED - a wine tasting that includes 5 of the Castle Château Belá wines-some of the finest in Slovakia.

During your duplicate bridge holidays nothing is obligatory, you can play in as many or as few bridge sessions as you wish. Our bridge programmes will vary according to the length of your break and in addition to playing bridge, we will always endeavour to provide a minimum of two bridge seminars for breaks of 7 days or more.

All of our bridge holidays include bridge seminars with handouts in addition to a varied and interesting duplicate bridge programme. We use duplimated boards every evening to ensure fairness and consistency. Bridge hand records are provided, as well as bridge partners if needed.

Your duplicate bridge will usually be available twice daily, at 2.30pm and 7.45pm. The afternoon sessions usually finish between 4.45pm and 5pm, the evenings between 10.45pm - 11.15pm. The afternoons are normally given over to open pairs/teams. We endeavour to vary the evening sessions, with a balance between teams and pairs, with at least one Swiss style event during a two-week bridge break.

During all evening sessions, we utilise a duplimate machine, which means we are able to produce hand record sheets at the end of the session and when we have two or more sections, both can play the same hands. On our UK duplicate bridge breaks, provided numbers allow, we usually will lay on an "Early Bird" afternoon session on the day of arrival.

We don’t forget you are on holiday, our bridge programmes allow time for relaxation plus giving you plenty of opportunity to explore the surrounding area and relax.
