Your duplicate bridge will be available every evening between 7:45pm and 11:15pm. We endeavour to vary these evening sessions, balancing between teams and pairs and featuring at least one Swiss event during a two-week break.
Bridge will also be offered some afternoons between 2:30pm and 4:45pm. These sessions are normally given over to open pairs/teams.
Masterpoints are awarded on evening bridge sessions, and on day sessions with over 5 tables.
During your bridge holiday, nothing is obligatory, and you can play in as many or as few bridge sessions as you wish. We don’t forget you are on holiday and our bridge programmes also allow time to relax, giving the opportunity for you to explore the surrounding area.
Venice (Day 4)
Today we enjoy a full-day excursion to Venice, a city built on a network of canals. We take a short coach journey to Ponte Sabbioni and join the ferry directly into the heart of Venice, experiencing the incredible views of the city from the water as we enter. We start our guided tour at St Mark’s Square under the imposing Bell Tower, and we pass the impressive Doges Palace, a symbol of the golden age of Serenissima. There is no Venice without bridges, and in particular the Rialto Bridge, which spans the Grand Canal. In 1953, it replaced the very old wooden pontoon bridge that allowed passage to the Fish Market. We also view the Bridge of Sighs, the most iconic bridge in the city. Just a few steps from St Mark's Square, it connects the Doges Palace with the old prisons.
Afterwards you have time to lose yourself in the shopping streets and discover the sestieri (quarters) and their craft shops. Whether you are a fashion addict; a lover of 'Made in Italy'; a collector of curious objects; or an enthusiast for the coloured Venetian glass – you can indulge yourself in shops full of lace, clothes, fabrics, glass and books. Make time to sit by the Grand Canal or in St Mark's Square, and relax with a traditional Venetian Bellini and a view of this fine city.
