Jersey’s Occupation Story led by Marc Yates

2021 marks the 76th anniversary of the liberation of the Channel Islands, the only part of the British Isles to be occupied by German forces in World War Two.

On this special Remembrance Tour, we’ll visit significant sites and specialist museums to discover the story of Jersey’s occupation. We explore the events of 1939 and 1940 leading up to the occupation, the five years when, under German forces, the island was fortified as part of Hitler’s Atlantic Wall, and the British Military operation ‘Nestegg’, set in motion with the objective of liberating the Channel Islands. From Occupation to Liberation Jersey’s wartime history is unique and we’ll commemorate those who lost their lives with a special Act of Remembrance at St Helier War Cemetery.
